Deep inside the Life Sciences Institute in Astropolis, a single interrogation of intercepted research logs turns into the moment Kuchiba stops pretending. Working alongside Ashveil and a narrator monkey, she has the holographic AI IPC Wolf tear through Madam Yabuli’s files, and the answers pull her Leviathan instincts to the surface. This sequence sits at the heart of Honkai: Star Rail Version 4.6, “Dance With the Beast Before Moonrise,” which arrived on September 28.

What the intercepted logs contain
IPC Wolf decodes 2,329 of Yabuli’s log entries, replaying garbled recordings in which she recounts her Abundance flesh-grafting trials. Her first attempts to develop biological processors using human, primate, or synthetic tissue ended in failure. No subject remained lucid for more than 4.2 seconds.

The School of Evolutionary Perfection existed to build a scholar capable of infinite life and total comprehension. After that research stalled, the project was revived when the Marketing Development Department found the planet Ahatopia and the entities called Imagenae. Five years ago, Yabuli finally synthesized Abundance flesh, Leviathan Essence, and Imagenae together.
Ashveil links Yabuli to the Herald of Death
After assembling the files, Ashveil determines that Yabuli joined Dr. Primitive in the invasion of Vonwacq. The attack killed or devolved 1,152 Galaxy Rangers and eliminated the planet’s native population. He also identifies Yabuli as the hidden architect of the Herald of Death case: five years after the Herald’s execution, she arranged for Leviathan Essence to travel from Ahatopia straight to Astropolis.
Kuchiba’s Leviathan heritage surfaces
Kuchiba is a security officer with the Department of Aberration Defense, warm and by-the-book on the surface. As the essence talk continues, she recalls a past exchange about whether Ashveil would ever stop her, then drops the professional act entirely. She is a descendant of a Leviathan, and being this close to concentrated Leviathan Essence brings on a near-insatiable hunger.
She proposes the obvious solution from her point of view: kill and eat Yabuli, so her hunger is satisfied and Ashveil gets his revenge. She even cites the Faekind Protection Act (Fifth Edition), Article Eight, and invokes Oroboros, the Aeon of Voracity. Ashveil refuses and draws his weapon, warning that killing Yabuli carries a much larger cost.
Why Yabuli cannot simply be killed
Astropolis relies on Yabuli, surgically bound to it as its Artificial Phantasmoon. She is essential to the city: if she dies, every Imagenae in Astropolis dies as well. Ashveil’s standoff with Kuchiba reflects no squeamishness; it marks a firm limit on how the investigation can proceed.
The cliffhanger: the factory goes dark
Just before the confrontation is settled, the narrator monkey spots the factory floor sitting idle. Astropolis’s essence pipeline has suddenly stopped flowing; red emergency lights flare as IPC Wolf issues a red alert. The warning reports catastrophic irregularities in Yabuli’s essence injection levels, and the scene ends at the peak of the tension.
The sequence lands inside the wider 4.6 plot, where Kuchiba’s ties to Oroboros and the Emanators of Voracity have been under suspicion. Pearl uses the recovery of Leviathan Essence as a reason to send Kuchiba and Ashveil into the Life Sciences Institute, and this cutscene is where that cover story starts turning into open conflict.
