The expansion also introduces union weapons, which fuse two or more weapons into a single stronger form. What you need before an evolution triggers
Every combo below requires the Legacy of the Bloodmoon DLC, since the base weapons only appear once the expansion is installed. Each of the five weapons tied to a passive-item evolution must also be unlocked first through its own requirement inside Red Moon Manor.
Weapons added after the game’s 1.0 release, including the ones in this pack, follow a stricter rule than the original roster. On top of maxing the base weapon, you also need to fully level the passive items involved. Only then will a chest read the combination as valid.
The last piece is the chest itself. Evolution rewards come from treasure chests dropped by bosses that spawn at or after the 10-minute mark on most stages, with some maps allowing evolution chests earlier. The evolved weapon replaces the first reward the chest would normally roll.

Union weapons and how to combine them
Unions differ from standard evolutions because they merge weapons together rather than using a passive item as a catalyst. When a union completes, the base weapons are removed and the combined weapon takes a single slot, freeing space in your loadout. Each contributing weapon must be unlocked and maxed first.

Note: FireBall is intentionally named to sit alongside FireFall and FireWall, and all three feed into FireStall. Keep all of them in your loadout at max level so the union can resolve.
How to confirm the evolution worked
When the requirements line up, the chest’s first reward slot shows the evolved weapon instead of a random upgrade. For a standard evolution, the base weapon vanishes from your inventory and the evolved weapon appears in its place, while the passive item stays untouched. For a union, both base weapons disappear and the combined weapon fills one slot.
Higher-tier chests can roll more than one evolution at a time on certain stages, so it is possible to evolve several weapons from a single pickup if each combo already meets its conditions.
Why an evolution fails to appear
If the chest gives a plain upgrade instead of the evolved weapon, one of the required conditions was not met at the moment you opened it. The most common reasons are listed below.
- The base weapon is not at its maximum level yet.
- A required passive item is missing or not fully leveled, which these DLC weapons demand.
- The weapon has not been unlocked through its Red Moon Manor requirement.
- The chest cannot grant an evolution because it dropped before the stage’s evolution window.
