Marvel’s Wolverine: Every Nightmare Door Location and Trial

All 14 Nightmare Doors, the hidden 15th trial, and the Adamantium target for each challenge.

All 14 Nightmare Doors, the hidden 15th trial, and the Adamantium target for each challenge.

Nightmare Doors are optional challenge rooms tied to Logan’s fractured memories in Marvel’s Wolverine. They open after Nathaniel Essex peers into his mind early in the campaign, and each one sits just off the main path, marked by black-and-purple, root-like growths that sprout to guide you toward it. Clearing a door’s trial awards Adaptation XP for equipping more passive skills and restores a piece of Logan’s past inside the Nightmare Cabin.

Quick answer: There are 14 Nightmare Doors hidden across the story plus a secret 15th trial that unlocks in the Nightmare Cabin after the credits. None are missable, and you can mop them up through chapter select afterward.

Every Nightmare Trial and Adamantium target

Trials come in three flavors. Combat tasks ask you to kill specific enemies inside a timer, traversal courses time you to an exit, and gauntlets throw waves of enemies at you until you hit a score. Here is where each door lives and what the top Adamantium medal requires.

Canada doors

Homecoming — The Enemy of My Enemy

The first door is baked into the story and cannot be skipped. You enter it automatically after the cutscene with Essex. The trial asks you to kill enemies while in Rage Tier 3, and you need to finish inside 55 seconds for Adamantium.

The One That Got Away — Can’t Outrun the Past

While chasing the red-haired mutant through the forest, you reach a more open stretch near a small river. The roots point left to the door, and Logan calls it out as you pass. It is a traversal run with a 57-second target, so just keep a clean line and avoid respawns.

Raise Some Hell — Hunting the Hunter

After learning Hot Claws and leaving the lava-filled furnace building, you drop into a courtyard full of containers. Stay right and follow the roots to the door tucked between crates. The combat trial wants three Reaver Snipers dead in 45 seconds. Ignore every other enemy and rush the snipers for quick takedowns.

Something Much Stronger — Fallen on Hard Times

Right after you free the wolf trapped in the branches, turn right instead of following the left-hand path. The roots lead to this traversal door, which has a tight but linear 43-second route to the exit.

Mutant Detected — Bad Inhibitions

Late in the mission, after the jet-turbine setpiece, stay on the left side once you reach the far end and interact with the door there. Keep following that corridor to the Nightmare Door. The trial requires all nine enemies dead in 50 seconds.

Inhibitors in this arena stop your healing factor and leave Logan fragile, so ignore them and clear the enemies fast rather than trying to disable them. Special moves shred the basic soldiers here.

One Last Mission — Last Stand at Cold Pines

Leave the Princess Bar early in the mission and turn right immediately. Thorns sprout and lead you into a nearby alleyway. This is the game’s first gauntlet, and Adamantium needs 40,000 points, roughly 22 waves. Buffs appear every five rounds, including one that kills enemies on a parry, and you can always return later with more skills unlocked.

Get Angry — Death By 1000 Cuts

After you deal with the telepath and unlock the sword-based Critical Strike, Logan snaps back to the real world. The door sits directly to the right of where you spawn. You must kill three enemies with Critical Strikes in 55 seconds. The fastest route is to let a yellow sword attack impale you, which hands you an instant Critical Strike opportunity, then turn it on an enemy. Reaching Rage Tier 3 also opens Critical attacks.

Bad Blood — Shinjuku Shuffle

Unusually early for this game, the door appears soon after you chase a Hand chunin into a trap. Once the fight ends, Logan lands in front of a climbable building. Scale it to reach the Nightmare Door. The traversal course is linear with a 57-second target, so spam the jump button on the climb and don’t fall.

Death Comes to Death — Rockbottom Blues

After watching the security footage and locating the Helix Engine, head downstairs. The path to the door is just ahead and to the left. It is another traversal run, this time with a 47-second exit time.

Sinister Tidings — Crucible of Tears

One of the easiest doors to reach. After you wake in Shiro’s house, interact with the sink in the bathroom, then step outside onto the upstairs balcony to find it. This gauntlet wants 40,000 points, usually reached around 23 waves.

Way Down Low — Blood in the Jungle

This mission is more open, but the door sits in a linear stretch near the end. After Logan and Jean reach the radio and contact Lowtown, ride the zipwire down to the rooftops and the door is straight ahead. The trial is to kill two Reaver Crushers in 1 minute 15 seconds. Focus them down with special moves and ignore everything else.

Roll The Dice — Run the Tables

Once you clear the reavers in the casino backroom and reach the service elevator, look left before using it and follow the roots. It is a traversal course with a 57-second target.

I’m Still Here — Edge of a Knife

After leaving the Noodle Bar, follow the main path, which you can slip through stealthily, until you see a door with an enemy impaled on it. Instead of going through that door, turn right to reach the Nightmare Door. This final traversal run needs a 50-second exit.

This Was The Dream — Savage Showdown

The last door on the campaign path appears early in the level. Wait for Jean to hack the Sentinel and clear the reavers, and the door spawns in the same starting room as the cutscene ends. This gauntlet targets 40,000 points, and the Calculating totem buff that kills on parries makes it manageable. Discovering it grants the Pathways of the Mind trophy.

Best There Is — the post-story 15th trial

Once you have found and beaten all 14 story doors, a final challenge unlocks in the Nightmare Cabin. It is the bottom-right figurine on the shelf. Click through the figurines until Best There Is appears, then start it. This is the toughest gauntlet in the game, asking for 45,000 points, around 25 waves. Clearing it plays a special epilogue about Logan and Jean’s relationship and awards the Repressed Memories trophy.

For the gauntlets, switch to the easiest difficulty, The Man, which gives you godmode. Farm the score you need, then raise the difficulty in the settings so you can actually die and end the challenge.

How to confirm completion

The Collectible Tracker in the pause menu and inside the Nightmare Cabin shows your progress per chapter, so you can verify all 14 doors are discovered. Simply walking into a door counts it as found for the Pathways of the Mind trophy, even if you skip the trial for now.

For the trials themselves, a bronze rating counts a trial as completed, and beating all 15 with at least bronze unlocks the hidden memory for Repressed Memories. You only need one Adamantium medal for the Platinum, though higher scores hand out more Adaptation XP toward level 10. If you left anything behind, replay missions from the bed in the Nightmare Cabin and retry any trial from the workbench with your fully upgraded kit.
