Marvel’s Wolverine: How to Get Adamantium in The Enemy of My Enemy

The first Nightmare Door in Marvel’s Wolverine shows up during Homecoming, and you cannot walk past it. After a cutscene with Essex, Logan is pulled straight into a purple telepathic rift inside the cabin, and the trial waiting on the other side is called The Enemy of My Enemy. The objective sounds simple, but the ranking is purely a race against the clock.

Quick answer: Kill four enemies while Rage Tier 3 is active and finish with an elapsed time under 0:55 to earn the Adamantium rank.

The Enemy of My Enemy rank thresholds

Only the elapsed time decides your rank. Damage taken, style, and how you kill the enemies do not factor in, so every second you spend circling the arena is a second off your score.

Elapsed timeRank
Under 0:55Adamantium
Under 1:00Gold
Under 1:10Silver
1:10 or moreBronze

The gap between Gold and Adamantium is five seconds, which is roughly one wasted approach. A clean run lands well inside the window; a completed run in 00:41:11 clears Adamantium with time to spare.

Where Nightmare Door 1 is and how to enter

Nightmare Door 1 sits in the Homecoming chapter and is required for story progression, so there is nothing to hunt for. Essex speaks telepathically as Logan approaches the purple flaming rift in the dark cabin, describing it as a rough version of a memory that is close to being recovered, and warning that part of Logan does not want to remember. He also makes clear that nothing inside the rift can genuinely harm you.

Walk up to the rift and press Triangle when the prompt appears. The trial card names the challenge and lists the objective as “COMBAT: Kill enemies in Rage Tier 3”. Accepting it drops Logan onto a snowy forest path outside the cabin, with a 3-2-1 countdown before the timer starts.

Every Nightmare Door is marked by thick purple roots running along the ground toward it, and none of them are missable.

How to clear the trial for the Adamantium rank

Once the countdown ends, close the distance immediately and start attacking the cybernetic enemies with the glowing purple eyes and energy swords. Landing hits is the only thing that fills your rage meter, so do not back off to observe their patterns.

Keep an eye on the counter in the corner, which reads “Kill enemies in Rage Tier 3 0/4”. Kills you land before Rage Tier 3 is active do nothing for that tally, so treat the opening exchange purely as a way to charge up.

The on-screen tracker marks the time tiers as the clock runs, with the 1:00 Gold marker highlighted.
Activate Rage Tier 3 as soon as the meter allows it. You will know it triggered because Logan’s claws turn red and the whole screen picks up a red tint.

Rage Tier 3 is live once the claws glow red and the screen shifts to a red filter.
Finish four enemies while the red filter is still on screen. The counter ticks up with each kill, and the trial ends the instant the fourth one goes down.

Adaptations that raise your rage gain rate make the charge-up phase shorter, which is where most of the lost time on this trial comes from.

How to confirm you earned Adamantium

The results screen appears right after the fourth kill and spells everything out. It lists your Time and Best Time, and prints the rank you hit above the tier list. If the run was fast enough, the screen reads ADAMANTIUM.

The results screen breaks down your time against each rank tier, with Square to Retry and Cross to Continue.

From here, Square retries the trial and Cross continues. Press Square if the time missed the mark, since the Best Time field keeps your fastest attempt.

Once you continue, Logan returns to the snowy area and picks up a purple memory strand. The reward readout confirms it with a +1 STRAND line and an AP increase on the ability counter.

Replaying the trial later if you miss the time

Nothing here is permanently lost. After the story, you can return to any Nightmare Trial from the Nightmare Cabin by interacting with the bed, and the Collectible Tracker in the pause menu shows what you have already found. Coming back later with more unlocked skills makes a sub-55-second run far easier than it is during Homecoming.

  • Trophies and the Platinum only require Adamantium on a single trial, not all of them.
  • Bronze is enough on the remaining trials, though better ranks pay out more Adaptation XP.
  • The easiest difficulty, The Man, removes the risk of dying while you chase a faster time.
  • Clearing all 15 trials at bronze or better unlocks the hidden memory tied to Repressed Memories.

Because The Enemy of My Enemy is short, self-contained, and built around a single mechanic, it is one of the cleanest places to bank that one required Adamantium rank rather than grinding a longer gauntlet trial later in the campaign.
