Mortal Shell 2: Collapsed Mine Walkthrough and Location

Every step to reach the mine, grab the Shattering Stone tarstone, and clear the blocked exit.

Every step to reach the mine, grab the Shattering Stone tarstone, and clear the blocked exit.

The Collapsed Mine is one of the smaller optional dungeons in Mortal Shell 2, tucked into the Ruins of Mammon, and it lives up to its name — the way you walk in is not the way you walk out. It is short, it holds a tarstone worth carrying on a stagger-focused build, and it can be finished in a few minutes once you know where the cave mouth actually is.

Quick answer: Fast travel to the Lonesome Spire beacon, drop down the cliffs to the cave entrance, ride the elevator to the bottom, then fight through the caverns to the stone chest and claim the Shattering Stone tarstone.

Collapsed Mine location in the Ruins of Mammon

The dungeon sits in a cave near the central pit of the slums, south of the Abandoned Outpost beacon. In practice, the fastest approach is from the Lonesome Spire beacon, since the cliff path there drops you almost on top of the entrance. Like every dungeon in the game, it is not missable — you can come back for it at any point, including after the final boss.

Note: the dungeon icon only appears on your map after you pass through the fog gate for the first time, so it will not show up before you have physically found the cave.

Beacon route to the Collapsed Mine entrance

If you have not unlocked the beacons in this part of Mammon yet, this is the chain that gets you there on foot. Once each beacon is cleansed, you can skip the whole walk with Mether’s Breath.

OrderLocationWhat to do there
1Outskirts of MammonCross the wooden bridge from the beacon and take the portal
2Deserted SlumsArrive by portal, push on to the Abandoned Outpost beacon
3High Lord’s TerraceRun past the enemies and activate the beacon
4High Lord’s KeepClimb the stairs and cut through the keep
5High Lord’s CourtyardActivate the courtyard beacon
6Gate of MammonDrop down the cliffs, cross the swamp, cleanse the beacon
7Lonesome SpireFight through the ruined village and activate the beacon
From the Outskirts of Mammon beacon, head across the wooden bridge and take the portal into the Deserted Slums. There is no reason to clear the camps along the way — everything here can be run past.

Work your way up through the Abandoned Outpost, High Lord’s Terrace, the Keep, and the Courtyard, cleansing each beacon as you pass it. These are all sprint-through sections if you are only here for the mine.
Drop down the cliffs past the Courtyard, cross the swamp, and cleanse the Gate of Mammon beacon. This one is worth taking properly, since it is your closest respawn point if the mine’s enemies catch you out.

Push through the ruined village to reach Lonesome Spire and light that beacon. Open the map here to confirm you are in the right corner of the region before you start climbing down.

Follow the cliffs down from the spire. On a wooden platform along the way you can pick up a Dewslits before you make the final drop to the cave mouth below.

Inside the mine: enemies, the chest, and the Shattering Stone

Once you step into the cave, the map switches to “Map unavailable for this area,” so navigation is done by eye. The layout is short and mostly linear until the chest.

Ride the wooden elevator platform down the shaft. It drops you into a corridor with enemies waiting almost immediately, so keep your guard up as you step off.

Fight your way through the cavern pathways, clearing the ghoul and goblin groups as you go. Wooden barricades block a couple of routes and can simply be smashed apart.
Continue until you reach the torchlit room with the stone sarcophagus chest. Sweep the area before opening it — a Ventrium sits to the right, and loose coins are scattered around the room.
Open the chest to trigger the “New Tarstone Acquired” notification for the Shattering Stone. That prompt is your confirmation that the dungeon’s main reward is banked.

Shattering Stone effect and rewards

The Shattering Stone is a stagger-damage tarstone. At Level 1 it adds +20% Stagger Damage to your next melee attack, which pairs well with heavy weapons and riposte-heavy play. You can check the numbers straight away in the Tarstones menu without leaving the mine.

Getting out past the collapsed exit

After the chest, falling rubble seals the corridor you came through. The way out is a squeeze through a narrow crevice and a short climb, and there is one collectible most players walk straight past.

Turn left from the blocked passage and head for the gap in the rock. Break the wooden barricade in the way and slip through the tight crevice on the other side.
Before you use the jump pad, look for the Laterite nearby. Take the jump pad, then drop back down to grab it so you do not have to loop around later.
Head up from the jump pad and deal with the hanging bat creatures blocking the narrow cavern. They drop on you in a cluster, so fight them in the wider part of the passage rather than the choke point.

Once the bats are cleared, follow the stone passage and stairs back up and ride the elevator to the surface. That returns you to the cliffs below Lonesome Spire.

Confirming the Collapsed Mine as complete

The game does not tick dungeons off for you. Open the map, move the cursor over the Collapsed Mine icon, and use Mark Complete to change the icon — that is the only completion tracking available, and you can flip it back with Mark Incomplete if you want to revisit it.

If the Shattering Stone is not in your Tarstones menu, you missed the chest room rather than a hidden trigger. There is no boss and no gate item here, so the only way to leave empty-handed is to take the crevice route out before opening the sarcophagus.

With the tarstone equipped and the map marked, the Collapsed Mine is done. From the Lonesome Spire beacon you are already positioned to keep pushing deeper into the Ruins of Mammon, and the extra stagger damage makes the region’s heavier enemies noticeably quicker to break.
