The Obsidian Vault is one of the beacons you can cleanse in Mortal Shell 2, and doing so drops you into a corrupted dungeon called the Temple of Obscenity. The run ends by reviving a shell, but only if you find the right structure deep inside a foggy abyss and select the option to cleanse it.
Quick answer: Interact with the Obsidian Vault beacon and choose “Cleanse Beacon.” Fight through the Temple of Obscenity, use the red-clone glide to cross the abyss, select “Cleanse Corruption” on the dark tree-like structure, then return to the surface to revive Genessa the Wayward and cleanse the beacon.

Where the Obsidian Vault beacon is
The Obsidian Vault sits in The Unfound Path region. It is one of the many beacons that must be cleansed by entering a mini dungeon and completing it. None of the beacons are missable, so if you skip it during the story you can return in free-roam after the final boss and finish it before starting New Game+.
To begin, approach the beacon and pick “Cleanse Beacon” from its menu. This opens the portal into the dungeon.

Crossing the abyss and cleansing the corruption
The abyss is the part that trips people up. The platforms are far apart, and the only way to reach them is a glide mechanic tied to the red ghostly clones that appear when you leap. Line yourself up with the target platform before you commit to each jump.

What the offering (Obscenity) is
Obscenity is the offering you take from the altar partway through the run. It is a key item picked up during the dungeon, gathered alongside the two Pestilent Scriptures you find on the way in. Treat it as loot to collect on your route rather than a puzzle item you have to place somewhere to progress.
How to confirm the beacon is cleansed
Returning to the surface after cleansing the corruption completes the run. The game confirms success on screen, first with a “SHELL REVIVED” prompt naming Genessa the Wayward, then with a “BEACON CLEANSED” message. Genessa is now available as a shell, and the Obsidian Vault no longer counts against your remaining beacons.
If the beacon still shows as active, the most common cause is exiting before selecting “Cleanse Corruption” on the tree-like structure. Glide back into the abyss, cleanse that structure, and then leave through the temple entrance to trigger the revive and the cleanse.
