Walk through the hidden waterfall and open the sarcophagus for the Coin of Mammon.

Walk through the hidden waterfall and open the sarcophagus for the Coin of Mammon.

Smuggler’s Hideout is a short underground dungeon in Mortal Shell 2, set in the Outskirts of Mammon. The run is linear. You finish it when you open the sarcophagus at the end of the cave and take the Coin of Mammon.

Quick answer: From the Outskirts of Mammon beacon, go east, drop down the grassy hillside past the hunter camp, enter the cave, walk through the hidden waterfall, and open the sarcophagus.

Smuggler’s Hideout Location in Outskirts of Mammon

The dungeon sits east of the Outskirts of Mammon beacon. Leave the beacon and stay on that eastern line until the ground breaks into a cliff and a grassy slope.

The cave mouth is below that slope, next to a hunter campsite. Run down the hill, pass the camp, and keep going until the rock opens into the hideout. If you are still on the high ridge, you have not reached the entrance yet.

You are in the right place when the area labels Smuggler’s Hideout and Outskirts of Mammon. There is no key, switch, or side quest required to open this cave.

Hidden Waterfall Path

The hideout does not branch. The one thing that blocks completion is missing the waterfall. If you clear the first room and stop at the obvious rock walls, you never reach the sarcophagus.

Step into the cave and fight the first group. The room holds armored enemies mixed with smaller ones. Clear them before you look for a side path. The layout stays tight, so a fight you skip will follow you into the next passage.

After that first fight, look for falling water instead of another doorway. Walk straight through the hidden waterfall. That passage is the route to the rest of the dungeon. Standing in front of the water is not enough. You have to pass through it.
Fight the armored enemy waiting in the passage behind the fall. This is a single defender in a narrow space, not another full room. Finish the fight before you push to the end of the path.

Coin of Mammon Sarcophagus

The path behind the waterfall ends at a sarcophagus. Follow the cavern until the tunnel opens onto the last chamber. Stacked wooden crates mark that you are at the end of the line.

Open the sarcophagus. The Coin of Mammon is inside. That pickup is the reason to run this dungeon, and it is how you know the hideout is done. If the sarcophagus never opened, you are still on the wrong side of the waterfall.

Enemies That Spawn on the Exit

There is no second exit. After the sarcophagus, turn around and take the same route back to the cave mouth. Opening the coffin is the trigger that restocks the path.

Note: New enemies spawn along the way out once the sarcophagus is open. The return trip is a different fight from the way in. Budget stamina for that backtrack instead of treating the cave as cleared.

Push through those spawned enemies, pass the waterfall again, and leave through the original entrance. Outside, you are back on the rocky hillside above the Outskirts of Mammon.

You have completed Smuggler’s Hideout when the Coin of Mammon is in hand and you are back on the hillside. If you never walked through the waterfall, the sarcophagus is still sealed, and the dungeon is not finished.
