Mortal Shell 2: How to Get the Obsidian Hammer in the Obsidianite Mines

The exact route to the Obsidianite Mines and the boss you beat to claim the Obsidian Hammer in Mortal Shell 2.

The exact route to the Obsidianite Mines and the boss you beat to claim the Obsidian Hammer in Mortal Shell 2.

The Obsidian Hammer is a slow, heavy blunt weapon in Mortal Shell 2, hidden at the bottom of the Obsidianite Mines dungeon in the Ruins of Mammon region. It is not found in a chest or on a pedestal. You earn it by beating the dungeon’s boss.

Quick answer: Reach the Obsidianite Mines, drop to the lowest level, and defeat the boss Prophet of Profane Infinities. The Obsidian Hammer drops as your reward, along with Paradoxical Scripture.

What you need before entering the Obsidianite Mines

Access to this part of Mammon opens once you cleanse the corruption blocking Marrow Keep’s southern jump pad. After that, the dungeon sits close to the Ruins of Mammon beacons, so you can reach the Obsidian Hammer fairly early if you are willing to fight through the enemies along the way.

Enemies in the Mammon region hit hard and carry high health, including the hammer-wielding Hierarchs you pass on the route. Being underleveled makes both the run and the boss much harder, since a death sends you back to the start of the dungeon.

Note: If you would rather see the dungeon marked on your map first, the Obsidian Hammer map can be bought from Merrick in Marrow Keep for 1300 Coins.

Route to the Obsidianite Mines

Travel to the area near the Besieged Ruins and open your map to confirm the dungeon’s position. The Obsidianite Mines entrance lies past the Deserted Slums below.

Head out from the beacon and work west along the path. You pass a small soldier camp near a ledge, then cross a rope bridge that leads to a larger siege camp.
Navigate the wooden platforms and drop down through the scaffolding to reach the Deserted Slums. Following the path down brings you to a group of miners.
Push past the miners and cross the guarded rope bridges. Watch for an archer on the first bridge and an armored Stoner on the second. Slay them or run through, then climb the stairs to the right.
Continue to the large mining complex. On your left you will see a wide pit filled with miners, and the entrance to the Obsidianite Mines sits at the bottom of it.

Getting through the mines to the boss arena

The dungeon layout relies heavily on dropping down through gaps, which makes it easy to get lost. The path below moves you straight toward the boss.

Tip: Press the light attack button while falling from height to avoid fall damage. You will use this repeatedly on the way down.

Take the elevator down into the mines and fight or slip past the hostile miners in the corridors.

Enter the seemingly empty room past a miner and stand in the middle. The floor collapses beneath you and drops you to a lower level. Keep dropping from there until you reach ground level.

Follow the tunnel exit into a large chasm. Drop all the way to the bottom, clearing enemies and grabbing any upgrade materials from the glowing spawners as you go.

At the bottom, step onto the jump pad. It launches you up to the ledge that opens into the boss arena.

Beating Prophet of Profane Infinities

The boss waiting in the candlelit circular arena is Prophet of Profane Infinities. It is a tougher version of the standard hammer-wielding Hierarchs, so the moveset is familiar. The real threat is the high health and heavy hits shared by everything in Mammon.

The fight itself is manageable if your level and weapon keep pace. Reaching it around level 20 with a well-upgraded weapon, such as a +10 Axatana, makes it a short encounter. Come in underleveled and you risk a long walk back through the whole dungeon after a death.

You know it worked when the boss falls and the Obsidian Hammer is added to your inventory. Prophet of Profane Infinities also drops Paradoxical Scripture on defeat.

What the Obsidian Hammer does and how to upgrade it

The Obsidian Hammer is a brutalist chunk of obsidianite and Proxima’s signature melee weapon. It swings slowly, much like the Great Martyr’s Blade, but it deals strong damage, has a versatile moveset, and staggers enemies well. Its weapon ability is Heavy Stomps.

Upgrades run through the Tarforge and increase its damage at each level. Early levels use Ventrium, mid levels switch to Laterite, and the highest tiers require Dorsalite, with rising Coin costs at every step.

LevelMaterialsDamage
+1 to +6Ventrium x2 to x18 + Coin x100 to x1250105% to 130%
+7 to +11Laterite x2 to x18 + Coin x2750 to x5000135% to 155%
+12 to +16Dorsalite x2 to x18 + Coin x5750 to x8750160% to 180%

For Tarstones, the Colossus Stone is the hammer’s unique ability stone, sending shockwaves through nearby foes. Clerik’s Stone pairs well for combat, while Torpor Stone and Wretchcaller’s Stone add strong infusion options. With the weapon claimed and a couple of upgrades applied, the Obsidian Hammer becomes a reliable pick for anyone who prefers crushing enemies over slashing them.
