The Weeping Stone is one of the few Tarstones in Mortal Shell 2 you can’t dig out of a chest. It sits in a merchant’s inventory, that merchant only shows up at night, and he only carries one. Get it, and your Sidearm stops being a chip-damage tool and starts stacking a status effect that chews through enemy posture.
Quick answer: Summon the night by speaking to Thestus on the roof of Marrow Keep, then travel to the Abandoned Outpost beacon in the Outskirts of Mammon and buy the Weeping Stone from The Collector for 1,500 Coin.
What the Weeping Stone does to your Sidearm
Weeping Stone is an Infusion Tarstone, so it slots into a Sidearm rather than a melee weapon. Activating it consumes 20 Resolve and coats your shots with Trauma, which deals Break damage over time. That means every hit keeps pressuring an enemy’s posture after it lands, instead of just taking a sliver of health.
Because Mortal Shell 2 leans on posture-breaking and critical strikes, a Trauma-infused Sidearm works as a setup tool. You poke from range, the Break damage ticks, and your melee weapon finishes the job with a riposte or execution. The stone is compatible with the Ballistazooka, and it can only be equipped to a single weapon at a time.

Add to Google Preferences →Weeping Stone upgrade tiers and how long the infusion lasts
Every upgrade on this stone buys you uptime. At the base tier you’re re-applying the infusion constantly; at the top tier you never think about it again.
| Tier | Effect |
|---|---|
| Base | Consume 20 Resolve to infuse your Sidearm with Trauma |
| First upgrade | Infusion lasts for 4 shots |
| Second upgrade | Infusion lasts for 8 shots |
| Final upgrade | Infusion is permanent |
The permanent tier is the one worth grinding toward. Once it lands, the Sidearm inflicts Trauma without spending Resolve mid-fight, which frees that resource up for the rest of your kit.
How to buy the Weeping Stone from The Collector
The whole run hinges on the world being in its night state. The Collector does not appear during the day, so flipping the world over first saves you a wasted trip. Bring at least 1,500 Coin.

Note: if you arrive and the spot is empty, the world is still in its day state. Return to Marrow Keep, beckon the night again, and make the trip a second time.
The Collector’s other stock while you’re there
Since the trip is gated behind night, it’s worth clearing his shelf in one visit rather than making the run repeatedly. Three other Tarstones sit at the same price point.
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Weeping Stone | 1,500 Coin |
| Fulminant Stone | 1,500 Coin |
| Infested Stone | 1,500 Coin |
| Infused Stone | 1,500 Coin |
He also trades in Glimpse, Thoracium, Tarcore, and the Blacknarrow Key. Budget accordingly, because 6,000 Coin for the four Tarstones alone is a real dent in most mid-game wallets.
Unlocking Tarstone upgrades at the Tarforge in Marrow Keep
Owning the Weeping Stone is only half of it. Upgrading any Tarstone requires the Tarforge in Marrow Keep to be expanded first, and that happens when you hand Franz the Etching Needle.
The Etching Needle sits in a bone chest just before the Magdalena, the Lady of the Woods boss fight. When you spot Ruk past the bridge, drop down through the opening and turn right before the tunnel to reach a small side area holding the chest. Take the Needle back to Franz and the Tarforge gains its upgrade options.
After that, upgrading has two costs. The stone earns experience only while it’s actually equipped and you’re killing enemies, so leave it slotted in your Sidearm as you play. Once the experience bar fills, return to Franz and spend Coin to push it to the next tier. Repeat that loop until the infusion becomes permanent.
The purchase itself is instant confirmation that the run worked. The Weeping Stone shows up in your Tarstone menu with its Trauma description and an empty experience bar, and equipping it to a compatible Sidearm adds the Resolve prompt to your combat HUD. From there it’s just a matter of shooting things until Franz can temper it.
