Beet is a common crop in Once Human, and it matters mostly for one reason. One Beet turns into one Sugar at a Kitchen Set, and Sugar feeds into several sanity-related recipes. You can gather it in the wild, loot it from produce crates, or plant it yourself. Wild plants respawn quickly, so a single good spot can supply you for a long time.

Quick answer: Fast travel to Meyer’s Market in Broken Delta (level 15). Harvest the greenhouse and garden plots just south of the camp with the [F] Beet prompt. Come back after a short wait to harvest again.

Track Beet on the Once Human map

You don’t have to guess where Beet grows. The map has a resource filter that marks every crop cluster with a green leaf icon, both on the world map and on your minimap.

Open the Map screen. Stay on the Map tab rather than Journey, Survival Manual, or Field Guide.
Use the navigation bar at left to bring up Filter, then select its Resource Tracking tab.
Set the category drop-down to Crops; Ores and Animals are the other choices.

Find Beet in the list and click it to track it. Green leaf markers appear wherever Beet spawns. Several clusters show up in Broken Delta.

Beet farming locations and coordinates

Beet grows across several regions. These spots have reliable clusters, and most also have a teleport point nearby.

The three busiest spots are best tackled at level 8 for Brookham, 15 for Meyer’s Market, and 23 for Riverside Souvenirs. Beet also grows near water, so inspect Iron River’s edges, the Dayton Wetlands marsh, and Broken Delta’s lake.

Meyer’s Market (Broken Delta)

Meyer’s Market is a Union Stronghold with a camp and an unlockable teleport. That makes it the fastest place to loop. Just south of the camp there’s an outdoor farm plot and a covered greenhouse. Between them, you get 7 to 8 Beet plants in a single pass.

Some of the plants sit in raised beds inside the greenhouse, so look up as well as down. The fenced farms near the shops also hold Beet, along with the nearby lakeshore, the buildings by the water, and the small islands on the far side of the market. A full sweep of all of it brings you to roughly 20 Beets. You’ll also find Hawthorn Berry and corn growing in the same beds.

Brookham (Dayton Wetlands)

Brookham is a lower-level settlement, which makes it the better choice early on. Its map marker is labeled “Beet and Corn.” The plants are scattered in every direction from that marker, by the fences, behind houses, and across the open grass. A full lap yields about 20 Beets.

Riverside Souvenirs (Iron River)

Riverside Souvenirs works differently. You loot Beet here instead of harvesting it. Go into the large red warehouse with Vultures signs and open the Fruit & Veggies crates on the shelves. Climb to the top floor for more crates, then check the sheds and crates outside. A full clear is around 20 Beets.

In Way of Winter, look for Beet in the bushes around the picnic area at Wish Land Eastern Park. The park lies where Onyx Tundra meets Vena Fjord, beside the plank bridge with the rams.

Confirming a Beet harvest and respawn timing

Walk up to a plant and you’ll see the [F] Beet prompt. Press it, and the Beet goes into your backpack. Each harvested node also gives you +1 Starchrom and +1 Battle Pass Exp, so those pop-ups confirm the gather worked. Wild Beet respawns after a short time. Clearing a spot, leaving, and coming back later gets you a fresh batch.

Deviated Beet occasionally spawns in the wild. You can spot it by its purple and pink aura. It’s a separate ingredient used in recipes like Fruit Sanity Gummy and Assorted Canned Fruit, so grab it when you see one.

Growing Beet from Beet Seeds

If you’d rather not travel, you can grow Beet at your base. Beet Seeds drop at random when you gather wild Beet, and Gardening Gloves improve your odds. The Fetch-A-Lot Bunny can also find them if you place it in an Isolated Securement Unit in your territory. Town vendors and loot crates in enemy areas sometimes carry seeds as well.

  • Plant in Loamy Soil or Planter Boxes
  • Growth time is 6 hours
  • Keep irrigation between 50 and 90
  • Keep light between 70 and 100

Crops grown in Loamy Soil or Planter Boxes can also come up deviated at random.

Seeds left in planters or with deviations didn’t carry over into Way of Winter, so take spares with you before moving to a new scenario.

You can eat Beet raw for a little Energy, but it spoils in about four hours outside a fridge. It’s more useful as Sugar. Open the Kitchen Set at your base and craft Sugar, which takes 1 Beet per unit. That Sugar then goes into the Sanity Gummy recipes on the same station.
