Ominous Eggs are the World Tree’s signature drop, and they matter because every Pal that hatches from one comes with a guaranteed World Tree Passive. These tier-5 perks trade a small downside for strong bonuses, and one of them lets you harvest endgame World Tree resources without the nodes disappearing as you walk up to them. You don’t get to pick which Pal or which passive you land, but simply owning one is the entry point to the best crafting materials in Palworld 1.0.
Quick answer: Defeat Panthalus to unlock the World Tree region, then search egg spawn points there for an egg with glowing purple-pink markings. If the egg that spawns isn’t ominous, return to title and log back in on the spot to reroll it.
Unlock the World Tree first
Ominous Eggs only appear inside the World Tree area, so there is no way to farm them until you have access. Beating Panthalus opens the region up. Until that fight is done, the eggs simply won’t spawn anywhere for you.
Once you’re in, the eggs use the same spawn spots as any ordinary egg, which means there are many possible locations scattered across the zone. Spawns are RNG-based and ominous variants are rare, so expect to check several points before one shows up.
How to identify an Ominous Egg
Ominous Eggs look almost identical to Dark Eggs at a glance, which trips up a lot of players. The difference is the aura. An Ominous Egg has glowing purple-pinkish markings and a matching glow around it. If the egg in front of you is plain dark with no colored shine, it’s a Dark Egg, not the one you want.
Force an Ominous Egg with the log-out reroll
Every egg spawn in the World Tree can roll into a different type, and returning to the title screen forces that roll again. This turns a rare drop into something you can grind on purpose instead of waiting on respawn timers.
Tip: Rotating between a few spawn points that sit close together is the fastest routine, since you’re rerolling and checking a whole cluster on every login instead of a single egg.
Ominous Egg sizes and rarity
Ominous Eggs come in three sizes, and the larger the egg, the higher its rarity tier. All of them share the same description and go into the incubator the same way. The main practical difference is weight, so plan your carry space if you’re hauling several back at once.

Hatching and what you get
Once you have an Ominous Egg, take it back to base and drop it in an Egg Incubator. The incubation works exactly like every other egg, so there’s no special setup to learn. When it hatches, you’ll receive one of the Pals native to the World Tree, and it will already have a World Tree Passive attached.
You can confirm it worked by checking the hatched Pal’s passive list for a World Tree perk. That passive is the whole point, since it opens up harvesting the region’s endgame resources needed for top-tier gear. You won’t be able to choose the exact Pal or passive, so keep hatching if you’re chasing a specific one.
