Palworld 1.0: How to Get Ancient Bone, Ancient Bark, and Ancient Lava

The three Sanctuary islands that hold each material, the tools you need, and the accessories they build.

The three Sanctuary islands that hold each material, the tools you need, and the accessories they build.

The 1.0 update gave Palworld a fresh tier of endgame accessories, and the recipes for them lean on three new materials you can’t buy anywhere. Ancient Bone, Ancient Bark, and Ancient Lava each live on their own Wildlife Sanctuary island, glow with a distinct sparkle, and only come out when you break them with the right tool.

Quick answer: Fly to Wildlife Sanctuary No. 1 (south) and chop the glowing tree stumps for Ancient Bark, Sanctuary No. 2 (west) and mine the purple lava nodes for Ancient Lava, and Sanctuary No. 3 (far northeast) and mine the skeletal ribcage nodes for Ancient Bone. Each node drops around 30 per harvest.

Where each material spawns

All three resources are tied to the Sanctuary islands scattered around the map. The nodes are hard to miss once you’re close because every one carries a shiny sparkle effect and a faint glow around it. Bring a fast flying mount so you can hop between spawns and get out before the island guardians corner you.

Ancient Bark on Sanctuary No. 1

Fly out to Wildlife Sanctuary No. 1, the circular island off the southern coast near where you start the game. There isn’t a single node here. Several glowing tree stumps are spread around the island, so you can farm as much as you want in one trip.
Hit the glowing stump with any axe or logging tool. It breaks apart into logs and drops Ancient Bark, roughly 30 per node. Keep circling the island on your mount to spot the rest of the stumps.

Watch your step on this one. PIDF guards and security drones patrol the sanctuary, and getting caught in their line of sight triggers a Wanted status. Break the nodes and move on rather than picking a fight.

Ancient Lava on Sanctuary No. 2

Head to Wildlife Sanctuary No. 2 on the western side of the map, around coordinates -690, -106. It’s a rocky, volcanic zone laced with blue glowing lava streams, so the terrain gives away where you are.
Land next to a purple, glowing rock node and mine it with your pickaxe or best mining tool. Each node yields around 30 Ancient Lava. The item shows up as an Uncommon ore described as a mass of lava sealed with blue lava that’s still giving off heat.

Ancient Bone on Sanctuary No. 3

Travel to Wildlife Sanctuary No. 3 in the far northeastern corner of the map, near coordinates 664, 636. It’s a yellow, sandy island, and the bone nodes stand out as large skeletal ribcage formations.
Break the ribcage node with a high-tier pickaxe or the Plasma Multicutter. You’ll pull about 30 Ancient Bone per node. Look for the sparkle and glow that mark every Sanctuary resource, which makes the bones easy to pick out against the sand.

Farm them passively with the Ancient Relic Recycler

Once you reach the endgame World Tree biome and unlock the Ancient Relic Recycler, you don’t have to keep flying island runs. Feed collected Ancient Relics into the machine at your base and it produces a steady output of these materials, Ancient Bone included, on its own.

The recycler needs power to run, so build a Power Generator and assign a Pal to generate electricity for it. That turns a fight-heavy grind into a background chore while you handle other things.

What Ancient materials build

These three materials exist to gate the new endgame accessories. Ancient Bone alone feeds seven different recipes, each eating 30 to 60 units per craft on top of a schematic and a heavy gold cost. Stockpile well beyond a single craft if you plan to gear up backup Pals.

The Dogen Emblem raises your Attack and your active Pal’s Attack, both to Level 4, while the matching Warsect Terra’s Belt pushes Defense and Health to Level 4. None of these materials sell through a Wandering Merchant, so the Sanctuary islands and the recycler are the only ways to keep your accessory bench stocked.
