Coralum Ore breaks the usual rules for gathering materials in Palworld 1.0. You cannot mine it from rocks on land like normal ore or pure quartz. It only comes from the ocean, either pulled out of floating wreckage or dropped by a handful of aquatic Pals, which means you need a swimming mount before you can start stockpiling it.
Quick answer: Defeat or capture Whalaska (or Whalaska Ignis) for a guaranteed 2–3 Coralum Ore per kill, or ride a water Pal out to sea and salvage the floating debris piles near the Isle of the Glacial Core and Feybreak Island.
Where Coralum Ore comes from in Palworld 1.0
There are two dependable ways to gather Coralum Ore. The first is farming Pals that drop it. The second is salvaging ocean wreckage. Both are tied to the cold, late-game waters added in the game’s major content update, so expect to travel to the northern and outer islands rather than the starting zones.
Whalaska is the most efficient target. It lives in the chilly seas around the Isle of the Glacial Core, slightly northwest of the desert biome, where two or three usually spawn at once. Both Whalaska and its fiery variant Whalaska Ignis drop 2–3 Coralum Ore at a 100% rate, so no kill is wasted. Neptilius drops even more, giving 10 per defeat.

Whalaska is a fishing Pal found only during the daytime at Advanced or Master fishing spots. The shores around the Feybreak Tower are a reliable place to hook one, and you will want the Advanced Fishing Rod equipped. If you would rather set up a steady supply, capture a pair and breed them, then run the offspring through a butchering line at your base for a passive trickle of ore.
How to salvage Coralum Ore from the ocean
Salvaging is the passive route, and in 1.0 it is simpler than it used to be. You no longer need the Strong Fishing Magnet that was required when the ocean content first arrived. All you need now is a water Pal to ride and a fishing rod. Good swimming Pals for this include Surfent, Azurobe, and Jormuntide, each of which needs its saddle crafted first.
Each pile holds only a handful of ore, so you will need to clear several to build a real stockpile. If you miss the green zone, the attempt fails but nothing is consumed, so you can retry the same wreck until you land it.
Note: If the salvage prompt refuses to trigger while you are mounted, return to shore, resummon your Pal from land, and swim back out. That resets the interaction and lets the prompt appear again.
For the highest volume, run a salvage loop with Neptilius supported by four 4-star Jellroy near the Feybreak coastline. A focused half-hour run set up this way can pull in roughly 2,000 Coralum Ore.
Turning Coralum Ore into Coralum Ingot
Raw Coralum Ore has little direct use. Its value comes from being refined into Coralum Ingot, an alloy that resists energy damage and forms the backbone of the strongest gear. The recipe unlocks in the Technology menu at Level 61, and refining requires a Gigantic Furnace because standard furnaces cannot reach the needed temperature.
At the Gigantic Furnace, each Coralum Ingot costs 2 Coralum Ore and 5 Coal. Build up your Coal supply in advance, since the ingot counts for endgame recipes run into the hundreds and even thousands.
What Coralum Ore is used for
Coralum Ingot gatekeeps the best production structures and the hardest-hitting firearms in the game. It is mandatory for the Advanced Civilization Workshop and the Advanced Civilization Weapon Assembly Line, and it feeds the top energy weapon lines and their ammunition.

A few early recipes take raw Coralum Ore directly. The Beginner Fishing Rod (Gumoss) needs 3 Coralum Ore, and the Intermediate Fishing Rod (Croajiro) needs 10.
