Pure Quartz is a late-game material in Palworld that feeds high-tier crafting, from circuit boards to advanced electronics. It only appears in one region of the map, and getting to it means packing for extreme cold. Here’s exactly where the deposits are, how to mine them, and how to set up a base that keeps producing quartz without you swinging a pickaxe.
Quick answer: Head to the snowy Astral Mountains in the far north of the map. Mine the shiny grey crystal clusters near the Unthawable Lake, the PAL Genetic Research Unit Tower Entrance, the Land of Absolute Zero, or the Pristine Snow Field. Bring cold-resistant gear and Pals with Mining Level 3.

Best Pure Quartz farming locations and coordinates
All of the reliable quartz deposits sit in the Astral Mountains, the frozen band of terrain across the northern edge of the map. The crystals look like greyish rock outcrops flecked with sparkling shards, so they’re easy to spot against the snow. Four spots stand out for the number of nodes packed together, which makes them strong candidates for a permanent mining base.
| Location | Coordinates | Nodes |
|---|---|---|
| West of Unthawable Lake | (-200, 250) | 9 Pure Quartz, 1 Ore |
| North of PAL Genetic Research Unit Tower Entrance | (-140, 580) | 8 Pure Quartz, 1 Ore |
| South of Land of Absolute Zero | (-252, 393) | 8 Pure Quartz, 2 Ore |
| Northwest of Pristine Snow Field | (-420, 461) | 6 Pure Quartz |
The Land of Absolute Zero spot is worth prioritizing because of its two extra Ore deposits, which are used in far more recipes than quartz alone. The Tower Entrance location has a single entry path, so it’s easier to defend during raids. The Unthawable Lake cluster sits on a hill, so wall it off to stop your Pals from tumbling down. The Pristine Snow Field has the fewest nodes but rarely sees wild Pals, so it’s the calmest option.

The Astral Mountains are punishingly cold, and the enemies roaming there sit around level 25 to 50. Two things keep the trip from ending badly.
- Cold-resistant armor rated at least Cold Resist Lv.2, and Lv.3 for nighttime runs. Bringing a fire-element Pal helps generate warmth.
- Any pickaxe works, but a Metal Pickaxe mines faster and lasts longer. Leveled-up Pals for combat are also a good idea given the local enemy strength.
If you plan to automate mining rather than swing manually, you’ll need Pals with a Mining work suitability of Level 3 or higher, plus Transporting Pals to move the harvested quartz into storage.

Pals that drop Pure Quartz
Mining is the most consistent method, but a handful of Pals can drop Pure Quartz when defeated or captured. This is a supplementary source rather than something to rely on.
- Astegon
- Frostallion Noct
- Jetragon
- Neptilius
- Pierdon Cryst
Build a Pure Quartz Mine for a limitless supply
The Feybreak update added a placeable Pure Quartz Mine that removes the need to travel north at all. Once it’s built and Pals are assigned or present at the base, it produces quartz continuously.
| Requirement | Detail |
|---|---|
| Level | 50 |
| Ancient Technology Points | 5 |
| Materials | 70 Stone, 100 Pure Quartz, 30 Paldium Fragment |
Note: the mine itself costs 100 Pure Quartz to build, so you’ll need to gather that first batch by hand from the Astral Mountains before you can automate the rest. After you place it, mining Pals working the site will begin producing quartz that flows into your storage without any manual effort.

Automating a Pure Quartz base
To turn one of the node clusters into a self-running operation, drop your Palbox on the deposits and build the essentials around it. The recommended spot is southwest of the Tower of the PAL Genetic Research Unit, which packs 8 quartz nodes and 2 more valuable Ore nodes into a medium, obstacle-filled area.

Once the loop is running, your chests will steadily fill with Pure Quartz while your Pals feed, rest, and mine on their own. That reserve is what powers the advanced electronics and high-tier gear you’ll lean on for the rest of the game, so it’s worth keeping a healthy stockpile before any big crafting session.
