Everything that unlocks the Jester Badge, from where the colorful cases hide to why some of them explode.

Clown Luggage is the clown-faced case that Peak added with the 2.0.a update on August 11, 2026, and opening three of them in one climb is the only way to earn the Jester Badge. The catch is that the cases move with the daily map seed, so there is no fixed route to memorize. What stays constant is the rule behind the badge and the tricks that make the cases easier to track down.

Quick answer: Open three Clown Luggages during a single, uninterrupted expedition. If your run ends after opening one or two, progress resets and you start over on the next climb.

What counts as Clown Luggage

Clown Luggage is a very large, rare, brightly colored case with a clown face painted on the front. It stands out from Regular, Big, Climber, and Ancient Luggage, so you rarely mistake it once you spot one. Each case can hold up to six items, which pop slightly outward the moment it opens.

These cases are not placed neatly along the main path. They tuck into hidden spots, under platforms, behind structures, and off to the sides of the obvious climbing route, and they can turn up in nearly any biome.

Set up the run before you climb

Start the expedition on Tenderfoot difficulty. This removes the time limit, which gives you room to search off-path areas without the run ending before you reach the third case.
Loot Regular Luggage and Big Luggage as you go, and grab the Pirate’s Compass if it appears. This equipment item points toward the nearest unopened luggage, which turns a blind search into a directed one.

Keep climbing through each biome instead of restarting. Because the badge checks a single continuous run, treat the early biomes as transit and only stop for supplies you need to survive.

Tip: The Pirate’s Compass shows up in Regular and Big Luggage, so opening more of those cases early raises your chance of picking one up before you reach the harder biomes.

Where Clown Luggage spawns

Clown Luggage positions rotate with the daily seed, so any exact spot works only for the day it is seen. What holds true is that the cases favor hidden, tucked-away areas rather than the cleanest line up the mountain, and multiple cases have consistently turned up in The Citadel.

The Citadel is the fifth biome when it appears in the daily rotation, which means you have to clear the four biomes before it in the same run to reach it. Its main threat is traps rather than enemies, including swinging circular obstacles, green laser traps, floor spikes, and large moving blades. White rocks add a status effect that drains part of your extra stamina bar when touched.

Once inside The Citadel, slow down and check beneath platforms, around ladders, and along alternate paths. Items such as the Rescue Claw, Chain Launcher, Big Lollipop, or Jetpack make its harder sections easier to cross while you search.

What’s inside, and the dynamite risk

Opening a Clown Luggage is not always safe. If the case contains Dynamite, the fuse lights the instant you open it, so be ready to move away the moment the lid pops. The full contents pool is below.

How to confirm the Jester Badge unlocked

Opening the third Clown Luggage in the same climb triggers the Jester Badge, along with the Jester Hat and Jester Outfit as rewards. You can check the badge on your character’s sash and in the Accolades menu inside the Pause Menu.

If the badge does not pop, the cause is almost always one of two things. Either the three openings were split across separate runs, or the expedition ended after only one or two cases were opened. Both break the single-run requirement, so plan your route to open all three before the climb finishes.

Because the layout resets each day, do not rely on yesterday’s positions. The rule never changes, so once you know to search off-path areas, keep the Pirate’s Compass handy, and push into The Citadel in one continuous climb, the Jester Badge comes down to patience rather than luck.
