Jade-Face and a masked fighter in the snowy court, Phantom Blade Zero

Quick answer: On the Mountain of Imprisonment, Jade-Face waits in the snowy courtyard past the large wooden door beside The Lady’s Shrine bell. He hurls ring blades from a distance while a Gold Mask and an Iron Mask attack at close quarters.

Jade-Face location on the Mountain of Imprisonment

Head to The Lady’s Shrine bell, found on the Mountain of Imprisonment. Since death sends you back there, use it as the starting point for each attempt.
Rest at the bell and top up your health before opening the door.
Walk to the big wooden door next to the bell and go through it. The snowy court lies on the other side.

Enter the court. On your first visit a cutscene plays, and then the boss bar reading “JADE-FACE” appears. On later attempts the bar shows up as soon as you walk in.

Jade-Face health and the two masked fighters

Three enemies share the court, and each has its own health bar.

The court is wide and paved. A raised stone walkway runs through it, and at the far end there are stairs and buildings hung with red lanterns. The stairs and railings matter. Jade-Face uses them as launch points, and the masked fighters can pin you against them.

Jade-Face moveset and attacks

Jade-Face does most of his work from a distance. The pressure up close comes from the masks.

He sends a ring blade sailing across the court; its low path and green trail let it catch you while you’re occupied with a masked fighter.

After a throw, the rings land and stay on the paving around you.

From the stairs or railings, he may spring high, lift the ring blade overhead, and descend onto you.

Blue shreds erupt around Soul in a cloud at close quarters, and the screen blurs.

Between his throws, the Iron Mask and Gold Mask advance, attacking with their long blades.

If both masks trap you beside the stairs or a railing, the exchange can be punishing: several strikes may connect one after another.

What the Jade-Face fight costs you

Health drops quickly in this court. Starting with a full bar, you last roughly 14 seconds on Pathbreaker and roughly 42 seconds on Wayfarer. Even on Wayfarer, you’ll need gourd heals several times during those 42 seconds, so enter with your heals ready.

Positioning makes the biggest difference. Don’t stand between the masked fighters and Jade-Face. Keep all three in view so the low ring throws don’t hit you from behind while you’re trading blows up close.

If you keep getting stuck, you have two options. Come back after you’ve upgraded your weapons, or switch the difficulty to Wayfarer.

Jade-Face reward: Seamless Death

The fight’s reward is the Seamless Death weapon, but you don’t get it the moment he falls. When you move on from the fight, a short death scene plays, and the weapon comes after it.

Your quest log confirms you’re past him. The Pillars of Kunlun quest updates to “Confront Huangxing inside the Shrine”, which points you to Huangxing as the next fight.
