Where to find Huangxing, the Kunlun Renegade, his chain-ball attacks, his second form and what he gives.

Huangxing, the Kunlun Renegade, before the Lady's statue, Phantom Blade Zero

Quick answer: Huangxing fights in the red hall up the stairs past Jade-Face’s court at The Lady’s Shrine. He swings a spiked bladed ball on a chain, and a second form follows the first.

How to reach Huangxing at The Lady’s Shrine

You reach Huangxing only after Jade-Face. Once Jade-Face falls, the quest Pillars of Kunlun updates to “Confront Huangxing inside the Shrine”.

Rest at The Lady’s Shrine bell. After a death you return to this bell, so resting here first keeps your restart point close.
Go through the big wooden door and cross the court where you fought Jade-Face.
Climb the stairs at the far end of the court and walk into the hall. A cutscene plays, then Huangxing’s health bar appears across the screen.

If you die, you start again at The Lady’s Shrine bell. You then repeat the door, the court and the stairs on every attempt.

Huangxing’s two forms and health bars

Huangxing opens the fight with “Only the dead can keep a secret.” His first health bar identifies him as the Kunlun Renegade. Empty that bar, and a cutscene takes you to another location to face his second form.

FormName on the barHP
First“HUANGXING, THE KUNLUN RENEGADE”139,680
Second“HUANGXING, THE WHIRLING EXECUTIONER”155,200

Expect a long fight. Around 68 seconds on Pathbreaker or 70 on Wayfarer barely moves his first bar. If you’re stuck, come back once you have upgraded your weapons.

The hall: pillars, broken boards and the statue

The first form takes place in a big timber hall. Paper coins drift down from above, pillars stand across the floor, and the Lady’s statue sits on a dais at the far end.

Keep clear of the pillars and the statue dais; if he corners you there, they can block your view of him.

Huangxing’s moveset

Most of his attacks come from the spiked ball and its chain. A long bladed pole covers him up close. None of the descriptions below are in-game names.

Ball and chain attacks

He spins the spiked ball over his head on its chain, then slams it down on you.

He launches the ball directly at you, with blades spread around its rim. Blocking it produces orange sparks and a flash of light, but the impact still sends you sliding backward.

He turns with the ball at close range while a dark red circle spreads across the floorboards around him.

Pole thrust and gap closer

Up close, he drives a long bladed pole forward one-handed, with the ball hanging from his other hand.

From far away, he skids along the hall beneath a low plume of grey dust to get within reach.

If that dash connects, a blast of red light hits Soul, fills the screen, and blurs your view.

The red flash before a hit

A thin red flash cuts horizontally across the screen near his body just before an attack lands. Watch for it as your cue that a hit is coming.

Huangxing reward: the Flying Guillotine

Defeating Huangxing awards you the Flying Guillotine, which opens the mechanism in the Lady’s statue base. His six memory flowers are tied to Justice Tarnished.
