Quick answer: Ring the Crimson Manor bell, walk to the red double door about 16 m away, and press E on the tongueless face. The Mute talks, then the gate opens.
Where to use it
Use the tongue at the Crimson Manor Main Gate. The Crimson Manor bell is roughly 16 m away, and the Mute is the puppet face set in the gate’s center.
Before you head there, you need two things in place:
- After you open all three doors in The Herald’s Illusion, the Three-Eyed Puppet gives you the Puppet’s Tongue.
- Reach the gate by passing through the cracked wall, then taking the lift.

What the Mute says
With its tongue back, the Mute has plenty to say:
“Back in the sect, I was quite a chatter…”
“All my senior and junior brothers loved to talk with me…”
“You here for that shiny eyeball too, aren’t you?”
“Heheh, I’d think twice about that if I were you!”
“Obviously, I’m not going to tell you it’s under the Crimson Manor…”
“But that place… it’s got…”
Soul cuts the Mute off before it can finish: “Sorry, you’ve said enough.”

After the door opens
When the conversation ends, the door swings open and you can walk into the hall beyond. It’s hung with curtains and lanterns, with a blue flame burning in the middle.

A Crimson Manor banner appears as the quest updates.

The Mute’s “shiny eyeball” refers to the Crystal Puppet Eye [Yang], part of the Crimson Manor quest. The Three-Eyed Puppet directs you to retrieve that eye.
