The beautiful building in Bubbly Basin is the Ocean Temple, and it becomes Popplio’s big project once you push the area’s Environment Level to 3. Popplio drops a large building kit at the top of the staircase north of the central square and asks for your help. Before you can start the build itself, six Pokémon each need a favor completed, and the finished structure calls for 15 Pokémon plus a stack of materials.
Quick answer: Reach Environment Level 3, complete the requests for Corsola, Corphish, Mareanie, Cloyster, Frillish, Totodile, Barboach and their linked Pokémon, then bring 50 Star-Spotted Rocks, 30 Stones, 25 Seashells, 10 Shiny Pearls, 10 Seashell Fencing, 2 Ocean Doors, and 15 Pokémon (at least one with the Build specialty) to the kit. Building takes one real hour.
Start the request and clear the build site
Talk to Popplio in the central square after hitting Environment Level 3, then follow them up the large staircase. Speak to them again at the top so they place the Ocean Temple building kit. Now the real work begins.
Note: While clearing the space you pick up the Ocean Door recipe, so doing this first saves a trip later.
The 10 Pokémon tied to Popplio’s request
Popplio needs help gathering a set of buddies before the temple can go up. Six of them hand over their own sub-request, and each of those pulls in a helper Pokémon. Here is the full roster you will interact with along the way.

Corsola, Mudkip, and Carvanha: the underwater garden chain
This chain starts with Corsola. Build the Basin Tall Grass and Coral habitat, which needs four seabed tall grass, one tall coral, and one small coral. The spot at the bottom of the stairs by the gate is nearly finished already, so use Leafage to pull up enough grass to complete it.
After a few minutes Corsola appears with an orange “I just remembered!” speech bubble and leads you to the garden to the east. They can’t use their Grow specialty until the plants get air bubbles, which is where Mudkip comes in.
To bring in Mudkip, build the Basin Tall Grass habitat by pulling up four seabed tall grass with Leafage. Once Mudkip shows up, lead them to the garden and they will blow bubbles onto the plants automatically. Talk to Corsola and they use Grow to make the watermelons sprout instantly.
Corsola then complains about eating the rind and asks for a Cut specialty Pokémon, Carvanha.
Build the Seaweed and Netting habitat for Carvanha. The building next to the garden already has a slot that just needs one more netting. When Carvanha joins, hand them a watermelon to slice, collect the slices later, and give one to Corsola. Corsola is then ready to help build.
Corphish and the Sharpedo submarine
Corphish is your main builder in Bubbly Basin, but he wants his own project finished first. Make the Sandy Basin Tall Grass habitat, which needs one sandpile and four seabed tall grass. Use Leafage next to a sandpile — the sand tunnel decorated with seashells and seaglass — to set it up.
Almost immediately, Corphish asks for a building kit shaped like a Sharpedo. This Submarine Building Kit is a new Expansion Pass feature, and you have two ways to get one.
- Buy it for 300 Life Coins at the shop once you hit Environment Level 3.
- Find it in the Water Gym on the east side of town. The kit sits behind breakable blocks at the end of the tunnel in the north-eastern corner of the entrance square.
Talk to Corphish, place the kit, and start the build. The submarine needs 10 Iron Ore, 5 Sea Glass Fragments, and four Pokémon with at least one Build specialty, and it takes one hour to finish. Speak to Corphish afterward and he joins the temple crew.
Mareanie and Cloyster: pearls and the Marine Sofa
For Mareanie, build the Swaying Flower Bed and Coral habitat. Find a colorful coral grouping in the main area, use your Rototiller to dig up seabed flowers, then plant them beside the coral until you have four seabed flower plots.
Mareanie appears with an “Uh oh…” bubble and points you to a cave in the northeast corner of the main square, to the right of the big staircase. Head down the stairs and grab the grubby pearl sitting in the sand. Mareanie is unimpressed by how dull it is and asks you to bring in Cloyster to clean it up.
Cloyster’s Scrub specialty turns grubby pearls into shiny pearls, and you’ll need that specialty for the temple too. Build the Swaying Flower Bed and Seaweed habitat by placing four seabed flowers and two lush seaweed near the Chimney Rocks — the tall rock structures that taper toward a bubbling hole at the top. Use Rototiller to move the flowers and seaweed into place.
Rather than keep the shiny pearl, Mareanie hands it back and asks for a Marine Sofa. Craft it at a workbench with the following.

Place the finished sofa in Mareanie’s habitat and talk to them again. Both Mareanie and Cloyster are now ready to help.
Frillish and the Starmie Doll cave
Head to the ocean behind the temple site and look for a cove to the northwest sealed with orange blocks, with a “Hmmm…” bubble nearby. Break the orange blocks with Rock Smash to find Frillish, then talk to them to discover them. They need help finding the Starmie Doll.
Give the doll to Frillish and they hand it back so you can use it to have Drifloon take you to a new dream island. Ask Frillish to help and they’re on the crew.
Totodile and Chinchou: three games and the bubble machine
Totodile wanders the steps directly behind the temple, or on the bridge just to the north. Talk to them and play three games in order.
Power it with a Generate specialty Pokémon. Build the Fluffy Relaxation habitat for Chinchou by placing any Doll, any Light, and a Cushion Bed together. You can buy a Cushion Bed from the PC shop for 100 Life Coins. If you already have Stunfisk, it also carries the Generate skill and works as an alternative.
Lead the electric Pokémon over to the bubble machine to power it. This creates the Bubbly Bathtub habitat, which becomes Totodile’s official home. Talk to Totodile once more and they’ll join the build.
Barboach and the Seashell Seat in the deep cave
Behind the temple and to the right, past the ruined tower, sit some red and white buildings with a crying Barboach inside. They’ve lost a Seashell Seat in the nearby cave and are afraid of the dark, so you offer to fetch it. To see down there, you’ll need Lampions.
Grab the Poké Ball inside the building for 10 Lampions. There are more scattered on the platforms leading down and another Poké Ball with 10 if you drop straight down. You really only need about four to light the way. Lampions can also be bought from the PC shop for 100 Life Coins if you run short.
Drop into the deep-sea area and place Lampions on the yellow squares on the ground. Head west, straight back into the cave, and the Seashell Seat sits on the ground between four Lampion spots, near the “Comfort Cafe Now Open!” record. Pick it up and return it to Barboach.
Barboach then asks for a home to recover in, the Ocean Rest Spot habitat. You also receive the Lampion recipe at this point.

Small Coral is common around where you found Barboach. Place the seat and a Lampion beside one, talk to Barboach again, and they’re ready to help.
Ocean Temple materials and where to farm them
With every Pokémon on board, gather the six material types the temple needs.

Crafting Ocean Doors
Rock Smash a Star-Spotted Rock, carry it to a workbench, and select Ocean Door from the Buildings tab. Each door costs one rock, so plan for two rocks total across both doors.
Crafting Seashell Fencing
Once you own the recipe, a single craft produces 10 fencing pieces from one Star-Spotted Rock and one Shiny Pearl.
Finish the build and confirm it worked
Bring all 15 Pokémon and the full material list to the kit and start the build. At least one Pokémon must have the Build specialty; more builders won’t shorten this particular timer, which is fixed at one hour of real time. You can either wait it out or time travel.
When the timer ends, return to the completed Ocean Temple and step inside. Manaphy has already moved in, and talking to them adds Manaphy to your Pokédex, which confirms the request is done. From here you can move on to rebuilding the Bubbly Basin Pokémon Center, since the rebuilding kit becomes available at the PC shop once you’re at Environment Level 3.
