Qingxiao is a 5-star Aero Sword Main DPS in Wuthering Waves who deals damage through Tune Strain and a stacking debuff called Mindlock. She wants field time to build her resources, apply Tune Strain – Shifting, and cash out with enhanced heavy attacks. To get the most out of her, you build around Aero DMG, Crit, and the Tune Strain loop.
Quick answer: Equip Glint of Clouds, run the 5-piece Heart of Evil’s Purge Echo set with Calamity Effigy as the Cost 4 main Echo, use a 4-3-3-1-1 layout with Crit DMG / Aero DMG / ATK% main stats, and pair her with Denia and Mornye.

Qingxiao core loadout
| Slot | Best pick |
|---|---|
| Weapon | Glint of Clouds (signature) |
| Echo set | Heart of Evil’s Purge (5-piece) |
| Main Echo (Cost 4) | Calamity Effigy |
| Echo layout | 4-3-3-1-1 |
| Skill priority | Forte Circuit > Resonance Liberation > Basic Attack > Resonance Skill > Intro Skill |
| Best team | Qingxiao + Denia + Mornye |
Her whole kit revolves around inflicting Tune Strain – Shifting as often as possible, then amplifying that damage through Mindlock stacks applied when teammates land Tune Strain – Interfered. Everything below feeds that engine.

Add to Google Preferences →Best weapon: Glint of Clouds
Glint of Clouds is her best-in-slot Sword by a wide margin. It carries 500 Base ATK and 36% Crit Rate, adds a flat 12% ATK, and stacks Aero DMG every time she inflicts Tune Strain – Shifting. Once the stacks max out, the buff extends to 30 seconds and her Aero DMG ignores 10% of the target’s DEF. That defense penetration and the high Crit Rate free you to stack Crit DMG elsewhere.
If you skip her signature, lean toward Swords with strong Crit or reliable ATK scaling. Because her damage is spread across basic, heavy, and Liberation hits rather than a single source, these options all work but land noticeably below her signature.

| Weapon | Base ATK | Bonus stat | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Glint of Clouds (5★) | 500 | 36% Crit Rate | Best-in-slot; Aero DMG stacking and DEF ignore |
| Red Spring (5★) | 587 | 24.3% Crit Rate | Basic Attack DMG focus; lean on basics on field |
| Emerald Sentence (5★) | 587 | 24.3% Crit Rate | Heavy Attack DMG plus a team Echo Skill buff |
| Emerald of Genesis (5★) | 588 | 24.3% Crit Rate | Energy Regen and ATK stacking on Resonance Skill |
| Lumingloss (4★) | 387 | 36.4% ATK | F2P pick; up to 64% Basic and Heavy Attack DMG |
Note: Lumingloss is the strongest free-to-play choice. Its Base ATK is low, but the passive damage bonus keeps her competitive as a team’s Main DPS.
Echo set: Heart of Evil’s Purge and Calamity Effigy
Heart of Evil’s Purge is her dedicated set and best-in-slot. The 2-piece gives +10% Aero DMG. The 5-piece triggers every time she inflicts Tune Strain – Shifting, granting +20% Crit DMG and +30% Aero DMG for 15 seconds. Since she applies Tune Strain – Shifting on her skill hits throughout a rotation, she keeps this bonus active almost continuously.
Calamity Effigy is the matching Cost 4 main Echo. It transforms to deal 270% Aero DMG, grants a flat 10% Aero DMG Bonus, and adds another 10% Aero DMG for 15 seconds when she inflicts Tune Strain – Shifting. It is a transform-type Echo, so weave the cast into her combo rather than treating it as a free summon.
If Heart of Evil’s Purge is not built yet, the 5-piece Sierra Gale works as a fallback, with Nightmare: Feilian Beringal as the main Echo for its Aero DMG and Heavy Attack DMG passives.

Echo main stats and substats
Use the standard 4-3-3-1-1 layout. Because her signature weapon has lower ATK, running one Aero DMG and one ATK% on the two Cost 3 pieces keeps her balanced. If you are not using Glint of Clouds, two Aero DMG Cost 3 pieces are fine.
| Cost | Main stat |
|---|---|
| Cost 4 | Crit DMG or Crit Rate |
| Cost 3 | Aero DMG Bonus |
| Cost 3 | ATK% or Aero DMG Bonus |
| Cost 1 | ATK% |
| Cost 1 | ATK% |
For substats, chase Crit first, then ATK%, while targeting around 120–125% Energy Regen for a smooth rotation. Since her damage is distributed, Heavy Attack DMG, Resonance Liberation DMG, and Basic Attack DMG are all usable but sit lower in priority.
| Priority | Substat |
|---|---|
| 1 | Crit Rate |
| 2 | Crit DMG |
| 3 | Energy Regen (to ~120–125%) |
| 4 | ATK% |
| 5 | Flat ATK / Heavy Attack DMG |

How her rotation and Mindlock work
Qingxiao builds two resources before her enhanced state. Sheathed Stance attacks fill Qin Heart, and Drawn Stance attacks fill Sword Cadence. Her stances live inside the four-hit basic string, so a full combo feeds both bars. Cutting the string short starves one of them.
When Qin Heart and Sword Cadence both reach 100, her Heavy Attack – Stringblade becomes available. Holding the attack spends both resources and sends her into Ephemeral Transcendence, which unlocks enhanced attacks that build Heart Sword Intent. At 100 Heart Sword Intent, Heaven’s Reckoning becomes available and ends the state when cast.
Mindlock is the debuff that scales her damage. Each stack (up to 15) amplifies damage the target takes from five specific skills by 2%, with an extra 5% per stack for the first seven stacks. Her Inherent Skill applies the same scaling a second time as a damage increase. The first seven stacks matter far more than the last eight, so a team that ramps Tune Strain quickly outperforms one that grinds slowly.
Only these skills benefit from Mindlock: Heavy Attack – Stringblade, Basic Attack – Ephemeral Transcendence, Dodge Counter – Ephemeral Transcendence, Heaven’s Reckoning: Ephemeral Transcendence, and Resonance Liberation – Billows Beneath Heaven. Her ordinary build-up combo is not on that list, so treat it purely as setup.

Skill leveling priority
Unlock the Inherent Skills first, then level in this order.
| Priority | Skill | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Forte Circuit | Controls her core damage mechanic and heavy-attack finisher |
| 2 | Resonance Liberation | Large nuke that sets up her next heavy attack |
| 3 | Basic Attack | Builds the resources for her enhanced state |
| 4 | Resonance Skill | Applies Tune Strain and builds resources |
| 5 | Intro Skill | Minor damage and a resource on entry |
Best teams for Qingxiao
She wants teammates who consistently apply Tune Strain – Shifting and land Tune Breaks, since that fuels Mindlock and amplifies her damage. Because her damage is spread across her whole kit rather than concentrated in her Liberation, Denia tends to fit better than supports whose buffs favor Resonance Liberation DMG alone.
| Team | Slot 2 | Slot 3 |
|---|---|---|
| Premium Tune Strain | Denia (Tune Strain) | Mornye |
| Alternative Tune Strain | Lynae (Tune Strain) | Mornye |
| Aero | Ciaccona / Aalto | Shorekeeper / Mornye |
Qingxiao with Denia and Mornye is the cleanest premium answer, since both accelerate the Tune Strain and Tune Break engine while layering buffs. Lynae is a comfortable swap for Denia, and an Aero-focused team with Ciaccona and Shorekeeper keeps elemental synergy tidy if you want universal support.
The build is intentionally rigid because her strengths and weaknesses are both tied to Tune Strain. With Glint of Clouds, the 5-piece Heart of Evil’s Purge, Calamity Effigy, and a support core that keeps Tune Strain flowing, she performs as one of the strongest Aero damage dealers in the game. Skimp on the Tune Strain support or the signature weapon and her ceiling drops noticeably, so prioritize those pieces before chasing marginal substat gains.
