The database lists Riptear as a level 13 Elite. In practice players have also run into it at level 11 during beta play, so treat the level tag as a rough guide rather than a fixed number.

The heart is party loot, so everyone in the group who is on the quest can pick up their own copy from the same kill.
Turn in Riptear’s Heart to Deathguard Linnea
Rear Guard Patrol starts and ends with the same NPC, so once the heart is in your bags the run back is short. Open the map and follow the turn-in marker toward Brill, then hand the heart to Deathguard Linnea to close the quest out.
How to confirm the quest completed
Two checks tell you it worked. The objective in your quest log flips to “Riptear’s Heart: 1/1” the second you loot the drop, and the quest disappears from your log entirely after Deathguard Linnea takes it.
