Every pet in Ride A Pet exists to answer one question: how fast can you cross the map? The mount you sit on sets your movement speed, and that speed decides which eggs you can reach before they crack. Better pets come from better eggs, better eggs come from higher luck and radars, and the whole thing loops back on itself once you get the first upgrade moving.

Quick answer: Upgrade Hatch Luck at the ranch board, keep every nest hatching, and buy a radar from the Gears shop to collect hidden map eggs for their luck boosts.

What makes one pet better than another

This system has no combat stat, elemental chart, or team composition to consider. Evaluate a pet by its mounted speed in miles per hour and by the income it produces while parked on your plot. Rarity matters only because higher tiers allow greater maximum speed.

Egg pools improve with distance from spawn, so progress is gated by speed rather than level. When a route seems out of reach, get a faster mount instead of repeatedly visiting an egg you can already access. Equip each new hatch, check it against your current mount, and store whichever one loses.

Headline pets shown in promotional artwork sit at odds advertised around the 1 in 50Qa range. Treat those as trophies, not farming targets.

Raise Hatch Luck before you buy more eggs

Hatch Luck is a straight multiplier on what comes out of your nests, and you raise it at the upgrade board on your ranch. The cost climbs with each tier, so a single step can be expensive relative to your bank. Pushing luck from 101x to 111x costs $18,925, for example, and the board simply refuses with a “Not Enough Cash” message if you are short.

Spending on luck first is almost always better than sitting on cash, because low-luck hatches produce commons you will never ride. The Index menu helps fund this. Every new pet you discover fills out an entry, and hitting collection milestones pays out cash you can claim directly — a 5/5 discovery block hands over $15,000, with larger tiers paying $75k.

Open the Index and claim everything available before selling duplicates. Selling a pet you never registered erases the milestone payout.

Find hidden eggs with a radar from the Gears shop

Hidden eggs scattered across the map are the fastest single upgrade to your pet pool, and a radar is the only reliable way to locate them. The Gears stall in the central market stocks several tiers, including the Jewel Radar, Advanced Radar, Royal Radar, Magic Radar, Angelic Radar, and Eternal Radar. The Jewel Radar costs $3,000 and carries Epic rarity, which makes it the usual first purchase.

Travel to the Gears shop and buy a radar. Bank enough cash first, since a $3,000 Force Restock is also worth keeping in reserve when the stall runs dry.
Click “Use Radar” from your inventory. A green distance indicator appears on screen with a directional arrow and a readout in meters, often starting well over 2,000m.
Mount your fastest pet and ride toward the arrow, watching the number fall. The counter is your only feedback, so if it climbs, turn around rather than guessing at the terrain.
Collect the egg before the “Egg Will Break” countdown expires. You get roughly 30 seconds once the timer starts, and a broken egg leaves you with nothing to show for the trip.

You know it worked when the egg drops into your Egg Basket and a luck boost appears on screen. A high-value pickup such as a 10K egg comes with a temporary +1M Luck buff, which is the window to hatch everything you have been saving. Ride straight home and empty your nests into it.

Keep nests full and use Place Best on your ranch

An idle nest is lost progress. Fill every slot the moment an egg hatches, upgrade nest capacity when you can afford it, and leave a slot open before a radar run so a returning hidden egg has somewhere to go.

Your ranch caps at Max 5/5 pets on the plot, and those five generate the cash that pays for luck and radars. Rather than sorting by hand, open the ranch menu and hit “Place Best” to auto-equip your highest-earning pets. Re-run it after any good hatch, since the game does not swap them for you.

Food from the market keeps those keepers productive. The Food stall carries Grass, Bone, Meat, Magic Apple, and Dragonfruit, and feeding pets you plan to hold is cheaper than replacing them.

Mutations multiply a pet’s base speed

Mutation is the real endgame, because it applies a multiplier on top of whatever speed a pet already has. A strong roll can push a mid-tier mount past a plain higher-rarity one, which is why the mutation targets you pick matter more than the pets you chase. Weather mutations run in live servers and include Shocked, Volted, Rage, Void, and Eternal.

  • Save mutation resources for high-tier pets rather than burning them on commons.
  • Retain a duplicate of your strongest pet for mutation attempts.
  • Risk your sole copy only when you would be satisfied riding whatever it becomes.
  • Park keepers in the Pen before a storm rolls through.
  • Swap your mount only after a roll clearly beats what you are riding.

Duplicates are worth holding as long as you have backpack space, since each copy is an independent re-roll. When storage fills, clear the slowest commons first.

Rebirth for permanent cash and luck multipliers

Rebirth resets progress in exchange for permanent cash and luck multipliers, which is the long-term answer to better hatches. The panel lists both a cash threshold and specific pets you must own, and the ladder runs from Horse up through Dragon. Hold on to those pets when you hatch them, because later rebirths require them.

Do not rebirth while your movement speed is still slow. Without a fast mount to rebuild with, the reset stalls and you spend the next session crawling between eggs.

Free cash sources worth claiming first

A like on the experience and membership in the developer group each provide cash rewards that turn directly into hatches, with neither reward expiring. On a fresh save, collecting both on day one pays for several additional rolls at the closest nest, typically producing the first substantial speed increase. Claim them through the Ride A Pet experience page or the in-game menus.

Game passes such as Instant Hatch, Infinite Radar, Infinite Backpack, and Auto Collect only remove friction rather than unlocking better pets, so run the free loop before buying anything. With six players per server, rare eggs are contested, and the player with the faster mount reaches them first — which is the whole argument for spending on speed before anything else.
