Slayer is a Demon Slayer-inspired RPG on Roblox from developer kriel. It is listed as SLAYER [Public Testing], and it is still an early build. The combat, rolling, and progression systems already work end to end, but large parts of the world are empty placeholder space. The game page lists a creation date of May 4th, 2026, and its most recent update came on October 18th, 2026. At that point it had about 18,000 total visits and a couple hundred concurrent players, which is small for a Roblox anime game.

Quick answer: Slayer is playable now as SLAYER [Public Testing] by kriel. It includes clan and breathing rolls, a combat tutorial, stat training minigames, a Final Selection trial, and Nichirin Katana forging.

SLAYER [Public Testing] Roblox listing details

The game’s Roblox page has no genre set, and the “Public Testing” tag is part of the title itself. These are the numbers listed during the October 18th update window:

Slayer clan and breathing style rolls

Character creation starts with a faction choice, followed by separate rolls for a breathing style and a clan, plus hair and face options. Clans come in Common, Rare, Legendary, and Mythic tiers. A pity system sets a floor on bad luck. The reroll screen reads “GUARANTEED LEGENDARY+ IN 60 REROLLS” and “MYTHIC IN 180.”

Flame Breathing is a Legendary breathing style, described in-game as “Relentless, blazing forms built to overwhelm.” The breathing screen also includes a Severance choice, with Burst and Hybrid variants. Its prowess text ties it to raw skill damage.

The top clan shown so far is Tsugikuni, a Mythic slayer clan that references Yoriichi and the Breath of the Sun. Its passive is called Breath of the Sun. It gives +10% damage to demons, and every fourth hit on a demon sears it for 4 percent of its max health. That second effect scales with the target’s health, so it becomes more useful against tougher demons.

Slayer combat controls and parry system

The tutorial opens in a foggy training yard with dummies. It introduces each input with an on-screen prompt. Combat centers on mobility, aerial combos, and blocking, and well-timed blocks become parries that can sever limbs. The full control set looks like this:

DashQ
FlashstepHold E, press Q
UppercutCtrl, then M1
DownslamAfter uppercut, hold Space and M1
Block / parryHold F (timed for parry)
Guard breakR, or keep hitting the block

The uppercut-into-downslam chain is the first combo the tutorial teaches, and it shows how much of the fighting happens in the air.

Breathing bar, skills, and grab escapes

Skills draw from a Breathing bar, which you refill by pressing E. Breathing-style moves sit on the hotbar. In the tutorial, the Flame Breathing skill Limb Breaker is used to “pop a limb off” a demon.

Demons can also grab you. Escaping means typing a string of letter keys shown on screen, in order, before a red bar runs out. The tutorial closes with a “Survive the Lower Moon!” encounter and a cutscene of a Slayer’s Mark user killing a demon.

Slayer training minigames and stat progression

Finishing the tutorial awards Wisteria Blossom and Pine Charcoal and sends you to a hub platform called Frozen Shroud. Progression there runs on minigames that cost in-game currency and pay out EXP, stat gains, or points. You spend those points on stats like Strength and Vitality from the stat menu.

MinigameFormatWhat it raises
Boulder / Breathing TrainingRhythm timing roundsBreathing Cap and level
Parry TrainingDirectional rhythm promptsStrength, training points
Log CarryingBalance-meter deliveryStrength, Breathing Cap EXP

Costs vary by station. A level 1 Breathing Training round costs 175, and Parry Training costs 25. Breathing Training runs three rounds per level and grants 20 EXP per round. Log Carrying uses a waypoint and a green drop-off circle on the ground. There is also a breathing guard gourd station, and a Grade 1 Limit Break Gourd costs 500.

New breathing forms are bought with the same currency. Rising Scorching Sun, a Flame Breathing form, costs 450.

Final Selection requirements and rewards

Final Selection is the trial that turns a cadet into a Slayer. You queue for it from the Familiar menu, either solo or with a party, and it drops you onto a dark mountain full of demons. Dying sends you back to the hub, and a party gets sent back with you.

The test build is inconsistent about the goal. The mode’s description asks you to survive 15 minutes and slay 15 demons. The in-match objective reads “Slay 10 demons before dawn,” and clearing 10 demons without dying is enough to trigger the “YOU SURVIVED FINAL SELECTION” screen. Some demons on the mountain have far more health and damage than others, so a fresh character with no trained stats can lose quickly.

Passing awards Nichirin Ore. That ore is what moves you into the next stage of the game.

Nichirin Katana forging and breathing forms

Breathing forms are gated behind a real blade. If you try a form like Rising Scorching Sun with the starter weapon, the game stops you with this message: “A wooden blade can’t carry a breathing form. Forge your Nichirin at the Blacksmith first.”

After Final Selection, a “Forge Your Nichirin” objective tells you to take the ore to the Blacksmith. The Blacksmith NPC is in the World hub area called Ivory Passage, which you reach through the Familiar menu. Forging produces a Nichirin Katana, and you know it worked when the katana appears in your loadout and your Flame Breathing forms start firing instead of showing the wooden-blade warning.

What is still unfinished in the Slayer test build

Outside the tutorial, the hubs, and the Final Selection mountain, much of the world is not built yet. Several areas are open void, and hostile bandits roam that empty testing space. Some maps are missing entirely. Overhead tags such as “[Kinoe]” ranks and a “[Calamity Demon]” title on a Kibutsuji-clan player suggest that ranks and a demon side are already part of the design, but none of that is fleshed out in the current build.

The finished parts are polished. Movement, parry timing, limb severing, and the Flame Breathing effects look and feel like a much larger production than the player count implies. The structure is also complete: you roll a clan, train, pass Final Selection, and forge a blade. Slayer is worth watching mainly for that combat foundation. Whether it grows into a full RPG depends on how quickly kriel fills in the empty map around it.
