Saros Second Chance: How to unlock the extra life node

Death in Saros sends you back to the start of the chapter, but the Armor Matrix has a node called Second Chance that resurrects Arjun mid-run with your loadout intact. It sits at the far end of the upgrade tree and costs a rarer currency than the rest of the path leading up to it.

Quick answer: Spend Lucenite to climb either the left or right branch of the Armor Matrix, then unlock the Second Chance node at the top using 2x Halcyon. It revives you once per run with roughly half health and keeps all weapons, artifacts, and active buffs.

What Second Chance does

The first time you die during a run, Second Chance triggers automatically. A short cutscene plays, and Arjun gets back on his feet with around half of his maximum integrity. The revive happens in place, so you continue the same encounter without losing progress in the biome.

Everything you collected before the death stays with you. That includes your main weapon, your Power weapon, picked-up artifacts, and any temporary stat changes or buffs that were active when you went down. Further nodes deeper in the Armor Matrix raise the amount of health you come back with, so the upgrade gets stronger as you keep investing.

Where the node sits in the Armor Matrix

Second Chance is the last node on the main upgrade tree, positioned just before the guardian node that opens up after defeating the Prophet boss. It's marked with a purple icon, which is the color tied to Halcyon. Standard nodes use Lucenite and have neutral coloring, so the purple marker makes the special unlocks easy to spot.

To reach it, you need to chain upgrades along either the left side or the right side of the tree. Both branches converge on the Second Chance node, so pick whichever path has cheaper or more useful intermediate buffs for your playstyle.

How to unlock it

Step 1: Run the early biome, focusing on the Shattered Rise region. Clear rooms, defeat enemies, and pick up Lucenite drops along the way. Lucenite is the standard currency you'll need to fund the chain of nodes leading up to Second Chance.

Step 2: Return to the hub after each death or run. Open the Armor Matrix and start spending Lucenite on either the left or right branch, working your way up toward the top of the tree. You don't need to fill out both sides; one chain is enough to reach the Second Chance node.

Step 3: Collect Halcyon during your runs. It's the purple-tier resource and shows up less often than Lucenite, so prioritize routes and encounters that drop it. You need 2x Halcyon to finalize the unlock.

Step 4: With the connecting nodes purchased and 2x Halcyon in hand, select the Second Chance node and confirm the upgrade. From your next run forward, the resurrection triggers automatically the first time you die.

🎯
Tip: Surviving the Eclipse world condition during early runs makes a noticeable difference in how much Lucenite and Halcyon you walk away with. Reaching the Prophet attempt by your fourth or fifth run is a reasonable pace for unlocking the node.

How to confirm it's active

You'll know Second Chance is working the first time you take fatal damage in a run. Instead of the cycle ending and returning you to the hub, a brief cutscene plays, and Arjun stands back up at roughly half integrity, still holding the same gear. If you die a second time in the same run, the cycle ends normally.

Things that can disable Second Chance

One of the Trial Modifiers in the Carcosan Modifiers menu, Growth Incapacitor I, removes Second Chance entirely for players who want a stricter run. Growth Incapacitor II goes further and disables every Armor Matrix enhancement. If your revive isn't triggering, check whether either modifier is enabled before assuming the node didn't unlock.

The revive also only fires once per run. After it triggers, you're back to standard rules until the next cycle starts. Upgrading nodes further along the tree raises the integrity you come back with, but it doesn't grant additional revives.
