In Slayers 2, no fishing tool outranks the Legendary Fishing Rod. Its unusual ability lets a cast bring up equipment and crafting materials as well as fish. That makes it the centerpiece of AFK farming: players can leave the game running and collect ores, legendary armor, and even mythic drops without touching the keyboard.

What the Legendary Fishing Rod does

Earning it grants the Legendary Fisherman title, adding 1.07x fishing luck, 1.05x bite speed, and extra underwater breath duration to the rod’s stats. Since this title provides benefits without any downside, keep it equipped after unlocking it.
The unlock chain at Mistfall Harbor
Fishing is gated behind character progress rather than a rushable quest. The chain will not work until a character reaches level 45, owns the Basic Fishing Rod sold by Fisherman Jeso at Mistfall Harbor, and clears the gate with Dock Master Sofen on the dock. Sofen charges 2,500 Wen to open the questline. Almost every stage after that happens at night, and the three stages run in a fixed order, so skipping ahead does nothing.
Stage one: the Drowned Lure
For the opening step, reach a rocky shelf above the waterfall at Mistfall Harbor by tracing the shoreline around; don’t swim directly offshore. Use deliberately weak equipment: equip the Basic Fishing Rod and leave bait off. On your fifth successful catch from that shelf, you receive the Drowned Lure. Attaching bait prevents the reward, and daytime casts cannot produce the lure.
The Drowned Lure is a legendary item with a 1x bite speed multiplier, a 25% catch chance, and, crucially, infinite durability. It never breaks, so once it is in the bag the rest of the chain can be attempted as many times as needed at no cost.
Stage two: Isao’s fish order
The second stage is the longest, because it depends on two legendary fish: Crustadon and Krathulon. The chain wants two of each in the inventory at once. This is where a better rod actually helps, since the Basic Fishing Rod is only mandatory for the lure step. The Rare Fishing Rod, plus Fish Head or Golden Tentacle bait, improves the odds on these rarer catches.
The fish go to Legendary Fisherman Isao, who only appears after dark beneath the wooden bridge in the Bamboo Grove river. His dialogue is what sets and completes the order.
Choosing the “Give the fish to the water” line hands over all four fish and advances the quest to its final stage. Isao checks what the player is carrying, so the fish need to stay in the inventory until the conversation is finished.
Stage three: fishing up the rod
From the Butterfly Estate Shrine, head to the waterfall below the docks. The spot is a rocky shelf beside a tree. Cast there with the Drowned Lure equipped; the confirmation says this is the location and that it has been watched for twenty years. This message is the sole indication that the site is active. Without the lure equipped, the ledge acts like any other water. If the message doesn’t appear, check whether you’re at the right ledge and have the lure equipped.
From there, repeated casting eventually reels up the Legendary Fishing Rod itself, and the Legendary Fisherman title unlocks in the same moment. With the lure unbreakable and the rod’s 95% catch chance, the only remaining cost is time spent waiting on night cycles.
Refining the rod at Refiner Hagane
The rod can be upgraded at blacksmith Refiner Hagane. Pushing it to level 5 raises Fish Luck from +0.5 to +0.7 while leaving the 3x bite speed and +60 cast radius unchanged. Each level costs Wen and Refinement Ore, and the success chance falls sharply toward the top of the track.

Turning the rod into an AFK farm
The “AFK farm” build is what the rod is really built toward. The refined rod is paired with the Legendary Fisherman title equipped and cheap bait bought in bulk, then left to fish automatically. Fish Head bait, sold by Baitmonger Nori in Mistfall Harbor, comes in packs of 99 for 891 Wen and adds a 0.5x bite speed multiplier and +0.1 fish luck for very little money.
The casting itself is handled by third-party automation software, which runs the fishing minigame while the player is away from the keyboard. Over a single 30-minute unattended session, the Items catch tier does the heavy lifting, pulling non-fish loot that ordinary rods never see, including crafting ore and higher-rarity gear.
Automation macros are external programs, not part of the game, and they carry the usual risks that come with running unofficial software alongside an online title.
Two standout drops from that kind of session show what the rod can produce: Enru’s Top, a legendary chest piece with a 1.04x additional damage factor, +105 max health, +90 max stamina, and faster stamina regen; and the mythic Lost Lantern, which adds a 1.03x damage factor, +0.8 illumination, +70 max health, and +40 max stamina. Ordinary fish still pile up too, and those can be offloaded to Angler Runo on the Mistfall Harbor dock. His repeatable “The Morning Haul” crate-filling quest pays 1,750 EXP and 790 Wen per cycle, so even the throwaway catches convert into progress.
