Slayers 2: How to Get the Soryu Fighting Style

Soryu is a fist-based fighting style locked to the Demon race in Slayers 2, taught by an NPC stationed at Mistfall Harbor. Unlocking it means clearing a short quest called The Soryu Trial, which strings together fishing, exploration, combat, and a final duel against a trainee.

Quick answer: Play as a Demon at Level 62+ with a fishing rod, then talk to Soryu Expert Kazuma at Mistfall Harbor, catch 20 common fish, grab the Soryu Scroll behind the waterfall, deal 8,000 fist M1 damage, and beat Soryu Trainee Goki while handing over 12 Demon Horns.

Requirements to unlock Soryu

Soryu is the demon-only counterpart to the Slayer style, so a Slayer character cannot take it. Before Kazuma will start the trial, you need every prerequisite below in place.

Be on the Demon path (the style is Demons only).
Reach the level shown on Kazuma’s nameplate, Level 62+.
Have a fishing rod, which comes from completing the fishing quest.
Carry 12 Demon Horns for the final turn-in.

The trainer’s tag reads Level 62+, but some players report the questline only advances once they hit Level 65, so aim for that if the trial stalls. The fishing permit tied to the rod unlocks around Level 45, so sort that out first.

Where to find Soryu Expert Kazuma

The trainer, Soryu Expert Kazuma, sits at Mistfall Harbor on a wooden dock and scaffolding structure that hangs over the water, near the area labeled Seasons Crossing beneath a bridge. From the beginner village, head down toward the harbor; if you are starting near Bamboo Grove Sanctuary, travel northeast past Mistfall Harbor to reach the bridge and platforms.

Look for the wooden deck beneath the bridge overlooking the water. Kazuma stands there with an overhead tag reading “Demon, Lvl. 62+ Soryu Expert Kazuma.”

Completing The Soryu Trial

Talking to Kazuma opens a four-objective quest. Fish, scroll, and damage can be knocked out in any order, but you must clear all three before the trainee fight counts.

Interact with Soryu Expert Kazuma to begin The Soryu Trial. The quest tracker will list Common Fish 20, Soryu Scroll 1, 8,000 fist M1 damage, and Defeat the Soryu Trainee.

Head to the harbor shoreline and use your fishing rod to catch 20 Common Fish. Stay at the dock and run the fishing minigame until the count fills, then return them to Kazuma.

Find the Soryu Scroll in the flooded cave tucked beneath the bridge near Kazuma, on the far side of the waterfall. Drop from the platform into the water, swim under the falls to the cave’s submerged corner, then retrieve it.

With fists equipped, use basic punches to rack up 8,000 M1 damage. Demons in the trainee’s cave are suitable targets; Mother Bears and bosses at Bamboo Grove are dependable alternatives for building the total.

Find and defeat Soryu Trainee Goki using your Demon Art. He is tucked in a cave behind a second waterfall east of and below the first, an area shown on the map as Veilfall Cavern (also called Mistfall Cavern). Expect a real fight, then turn in your 12 Demon Horns to finish.

Confirming the Soryu unlock

Once Goki is down and the horns are handed in, The Soryu Trial completes and the Soryu Fighting Style is added to your character, along with EXP and Wen rewards. Open the Skill Tree to spend points on moves such as Face Breaker and Bone Breaker. Since you can only carry one fighting style at a time, switching to Soryu replaces whatever you had equipped before.
