Insect Breathing is one of the eight Breathing Styles taught by a trainer NPC in Slayers 2, and its teacher is hidden in one of the least obvious spots on the map. The estate itself is easy to spot thanks to its purple lighting, but the NPC is not standing at the front gate where most players look for him.
Quick answer: Insect Breathing is taught by Insect Trainer Shinora at Butterfly Estate, on the roof and rear balcony of the main building. You must be Level 25 before his training dialogue opens.
Insect Breathing requirements in Slayers 2
Every Breathing Style in the current early-access build shares the same Level 25 milestone, and Insect Breathing is no exception. Before making the trip, check the following:
- Player Level 25 or higher.
- Access to Butterfly Estate, reached on foot from the starting area.
- Wall Climb unlocked, which makes the cliff sections far less punishing.
- Stamina to spare for dashing and climbing along the route.
Some trainers also demand materials such as Demon Horns or Wen. Shinora’s dialogue lists whatever he needs before training begins, so read the prompt when you reach him rather than farming blindly beforehand.
Speaking to a Breathing trainer does not hand you the moveset. You still have to finish the training objectives he gives you.

Shinora is at Butterfly Estate, the Japanese-style compound marked by red torii gates and a heavy purple tint. He is not on the ground floor. The NPC stands on the roof and rear balcony of the large main building, which is why players who circle the courtyard at ground level walk away convinced the trainer is missing.
Butterfly Estate sits past Mistfall Harbor, below a run of high cliffs. Opening the in-game map pins the location once you are close, so you can confirm you are in the right zone before you start climbing.

T Insect Trainer Shinora Chat appears when you are in range. How to confirm the unlock worked
Three checkpoints tell you the process is on track. First, the interact prompt with Shinora’s name appears, which confirms you found the right NPC on the right part of the building. Second, the training dialogue opens instead of refusing you, which confirms you have cleared Level 25 and any resource cost he asks for.
Third, and the one that actually matters, is completing the objectives he sets. Insect Breathing only appears in your moveset after that training is finished, so the trip is not done the moment the chat window closes.
If Shinora does not appear at Butterfly Estate
Height is the usual culprit. Trainers in Slayers 2 are frequently placed on rooftops, above cliffs, or behind buildings rather than out in the open, and Shinora is one of the rooftop cases. If you have swept the roof and rear balcony and still see nothing, check your level and confirm the area loaded correctly.
Rejoining the server is the fastest fix when a zone fails to load properly and NPCs are missing from spots where they should be standing.
Butterfly Estate is worth remembering beyond the Breathing unlock, too. Ren, the Gourd vendor, is stationed in the same area, so a single trip can cover both the trainer and his shop once you have returned his blade.
