Credits pay for almost everything you do between races in Star Wars: Galactic Racer. New parts, extra abilities, and fault repairs all come out of the same wallet, so a thin balance leaves you underpowered right when a tour gets hard. The fastest way to stay ahead is to treat every race as income, not just a result.
Quick answer: Finish as high as possible, complete Backer contract objectives, and win the largest Sidebet you can reasonably hit. Skip parts you do not need for a Credit payout instead, and bring the vehicle home intact to avoid repair costs.

Finish high in races for base Credits
Your finishing position sets your baseline income. The higher you place, the more Credits land in your account, and top finishes can also hand over Upgrade Packs, parts, or abilities you would otherwise have paid for. A first-place finish in a tour race pays around 1,250 Credits before any bonuses.
Chasing the podium is the right default, but it is not always worth the risk. If a win means a reckless overtake that could end the run, a clean fourth that keeps your vehicle whole is often the better payout once repair costs are factored in.

Add to Google Preferences →Complete Backer contracts in Act 2
Once you reach Act 2, you choose a Backer contract. These reward Credits for placing well, and each one carries a Secondary Objective that pays a bonus on top of your normal winnings.
Backer Objectives often match things you do during races, like reaching an airtime target across a planet’s events or keeping your Ramjet going for a required duration. Completing one that calls for roughly 19 seconds in the air grants 475 Credits as a Backer Bonus, and some payouts also contain parts you might otherwise buy with Credits.

Win Sidebets for the biggest payouts
Sidebets open in Act 2 after you qualify for the Galactic League. Before each race, you can bet on whether you will beat a specific rival. Every racer shows a predicted finish spot and a Credit amount next to their name.
A single successful Sidebet can pay around 3,000 Credits, matching or beating the race win itself. If you have cleared a few tours and trust your pace against the field, take the largest bet you can realistically hit. Across a planet’s full series of races, those payouts add up faster than anything else.
The High Roller favor trait adds an extra 75% Credits to every successful Sidebet, so if your build can afford the slot it turns a strong income source into your best one.
Here is how a single strong race can stack up when the win, a Backer objective, and a Sidebet all land together:
| Source | Payout |
|---|---|
| Finished 1st | 1,250 |
| Backer Bonus (19s airborne) | 475 |
| Won Sidebet | 3,000 |
| Race total | 4,725 |

Skip rewards you don’t need for instant Credits
When a reward screen offers a part or upgrade that does nothing for your current build, you can take Credits instead. The Skip Reward option pays an immediate +1,000 or +3,000 Credits depending on the offer.
This keeps you flexible. Grabbing a random part just because it appeared clutters your vehicle and drains the balance you will want later when the shop finally offers the upgrade that completes your build. If none of the options fit the plan you are already running, cash is the stronger pick.
Use All In bets to win parts instead of buying them
The pre-race betting system scales its rewards with the risk you accept. Clearing a higher target hands over a better part tier, which saves the Credits you would otherwise spend in Hibi’s Shop.
| Bet | Target | Reward tier |
|---|---|---|
| Base Bet | Top 9 / Top 6 | Rare |
| High Bet | Top 6 / Top 4 | Epic |
| All In | Top 3 / Top 2 | Legendary |
Finishing in the top 2 on an All In bet awards a Legendary Part outright. Shop parts run from 2,000 to 4,000 Credits each, so winning one through a bet is effectively a large Credit saving when your build can hit the finish.

Gamble on Mystery Encounters carefully
Mystery Encounters can improve your race earnings or bring in Credits sooner than normal, but they are not guaranteed. Some encounters turn hostile and punish you with Credit losses or a setback on the track based on what you choose to do or say.
Treat these as an optional gamble rather than a reliable income stream. Take them when a healthy run can absorb a bad outcome, and skip the risk when a single setback would end the tour.
Protect the run to keep what you earn
Fast earning means nothing if you lose the balance. Use up all your crashes in a single race and the tour ends, which wipes your Credits apart from what Hibi returns when your vehicle is sold off.
Heavy crash damage can also give a part a Fault, and fixing one at Ori the Scrap Dealer costs around 2,000 Credits per part. Some Faults carry mild effects you can ignore, but others badly hurt performance. These repair bills stack quickly, which is why a safe fourth place often nets more than a win that leaves you paying to undo the damage.
Put together, the pattern is simple. Bank consistent race finishes, layer Backer objectives and Sidebets on top, convert useless rewards into cash, and only gamble on encounters or aggressive bets when the run can survive a loss. Do that and you will walk into each tour’s hardest races with the Credits to be ready for them.
