Rivalry Head-to-Head races in Star Wars Galactic Racer sound like the Sebulba showdown at the end of Act 1, but they run on a completely separate system. You do not find them on the map. You provoke a racer into challenging you by betting against them over and over, and the setup takes more patience than the race itself.
Quick answer: Reach Act 2, then place sidebets against the same racer across a planet’s events until a red icon marks them as your rival. Keep betting on them on the next planet, and on a later planet they will challenge you to a one-on-one Head-to-Head. Win it to unlock First Time, Big Time.

Requirements before you can start a rivalry
The sidebet system does not exist in Act 1. You must progress the campaign into Act 2 before the option appears. From that point, every Race and Eliminator event in a Galactic Tour lets you place a sidebet against another racer through the Challenges menu.
A sidebet works by picking a rival for that event and beating them to the finish. Those bets are the only tool that builds a rivalry, so you need consistent access to the same opponent across several races in a row.

The trigger carries some randomness. You will not always get the chance to bet against the same racer in back-to-back events, and sometimes the rival will not approach you at the start of a new planet. This is especially likely when that pilot has already been assigned as a character you need to speak to there, which can delay the challenge.
How to win the Head-to-Head race
The Rivalry Head-to-Head follows the Sebulba race format: you face one opponent, with no group to slipstream behind and no other racers to eliminate. It’s a direct dash to the finish line.
Do not treat it as a pure speed test. Lean on the offensive abilities equipped to your vehicle. Tools such as Ion Bolt, Concussion Mine, and Shockwave apply malfunctions and other negative status effects to the rival’s ship, locking down their systems long enough for you to pull ahead and stay there.
If you’ve been using Tuning Points after each tour to improve your chosen vehicle, winning this race is generally manageable. Getting the head-to-head to trigger is usually the real challenge, rather than the race itself.

Trophies tied to Rivalry Head-to-Heads
Two achievements come directly from these races. One lands the first time you win; the other asks for a full clean-up against every rival in the game.
| Trophy | Requirement |
|---|---|
| First Time, Big Time | Claim your first Rivalry Head-to-Head victory against any racer |
| Best of the Best | Beat all 11 racers in Rivalry Head-to-Heads |
Eleven racers carry a rivalry with you, so Best of the Best means repeating the whole betting-and-challenge loop against each of them in turn. First Time, Big Time pops after a single win and is the natural first milestone.

Confirming it worked
You will know the rivalry is active once the red icon sits beside the racer’s name on the sidebet screen. The challenge itself arrives as an unmissable confrontation on a later planet rather than a map node you choose. Crossing the finish line first unlocks the First Time, Big Time trophy immediately, which is the clearest sign the whole chain completed as intended.
