Mods for Star Wars Zero Company live on Nexus Mods, and the fastest way to get them running is the Vortex mod manager. The setup takes a few minutes the first time, and almost all of that time goes into two things Vortex needs before it can touch the game at all — a game-specific extension and the UE4SS loader that most script-based mods depend on.
Quick answer: Install Vortex, open the Games tab and install the Star Wars Zero Company extension, download UE4SS for Star Wars Zero Company plus any mods you want as .zip files, then use Vortex’s Install from File button on each zip, enable them, and hit Play in the bottom-left corner.
Note: this covers PC mods installed from outside the game. The weapon mods you equip at the Armory in The Den are a separate in-game system and need no external files.
What you need before installing mods
Four pieces have to be in place. Skipping the extension or UE4SS is the most common reason a mod appears to install correctly and then does nothing in game.
| What you need | Where it comes from |
|---|---|
| Vortex mod manager (version 1.10.8 or newer) | Nexus Mods |
| Star Wars Zero Company game extension | The Games tab inside Vortex |
| UE4SS for Star Wars Zero Company | Nexus Mods, downloaded as a .zip |
| The mods themselves | Nexus Mods, downloaded as .zip archives |
A free Nexus Mods account is required to download files. If you do not already have Vortex on your PC, grab it first.

Add mods to Vortex with Install from File
Launch the game and confirm mods are active
Use the Play button in the bottom-left corner of Vortex rather than starting the game from Steam. Launching through Vortex guarantees the enabled mods have been deployed before the executable runs.
You will know it worked from the first thing you see. With a startup or loading mod enabled, the Bit Reactor intro is gone and you drop into the menu noticeably faster. Camera and UI mods show up the moment you enter a mission, and customization mods add their extra options in the character screens.
Why mods stop working after a patch
When a mod that used to work suddenly does nothing, the list of realistic causes is short. Run through these before reinstalling anything.
- The mod was imported but never enabled in Vortex.
- UE4SS is missing or disabled, and the mod depends on it.
- The game was launched from Steam instead of Vortex, so nothing was deployed.
- A game update changed the files a mod hooks into. In that case the mod author has to publish an updated version — check the mod page for a newer file.
Mods worth installing first
| Mod | What it changes |
|---|---|
| Faster Loading | Skips the intro, shader precaching and the press-any-key prompt, and speeds up the eight-second cockpit animation |
| Better Camera | Adds gradual mouse-wheel zoom with wider limits, and keeps your zoom level across the game’s different camera stances |
| Skip Bitreactor Startup Intro | Removes the studio intro so the game reaches the menu faster |
| Full Customization Mod – Mandalorian Padawan and more | Opens up additional character customization options |
Start with one or two of the smaller quality-of-life files before stacking anything heavier. If a mod misbehaves, disabling it in Vortex and relaunching from the Play button is enough to roll the game back to its unmodded state, which makes it easy to work out which file caused the problem.
