Steal an Egg: How to Find Rifts and Get Boss Tokens Fast

Purple portals spawn at random across the map, and every boss you kill moves the Boss Mastery track forward.

Rifts are the fastest source of Boss Tokens in Steal an Egg, and they do not sit on a fixed spawn point. They tear open at random across the map as purple portals, stay for a while, and pull anyone who touches them straight into a boss fight. The loop is short. Find a portal, kill what is on the other side, collect tokens, repeat.

Quick answer: Run laps through the biomes you can already reach, touch any purple portal the moment you see one, and defeat the boss it teleports you to. Each kill pays out Boss Tokens and advances the Boss Mastery reward track.

Where rifts spawn in Steal an Egg

There is no marker, no timer you can read, and no guaranteed corner of the map. Rifts appear at random points across the world, so the only reliable method is coverage. Keep moving through the zones instead of camping one spot, and check the open ground between bases where a portal is easy to spot from a distance.

The portal itself is unmistakable. It is a large purple tear that stands out against every biome palette, from the green of the Forest to the dark water of the Abyss Ocean. If you see one, treat it as a timed opportunity and go straight for it.

How to enter a rift and clear the boss

Walk or run into the purple portal. There is no prompt to confirm and no menu to open. Contact is the trigger, and the teleport happens immediately.
Fight the boss you land in front of. The rift drops you directly into the encounter arena rather than a lobby, so you are in combat as soon as the screen loads.

Touching a rift skips the travel step and puts you straight into the boss arena.
Kill the boss to bank the reward. Defeating it hands over Boss Tokens and counts as one kill toward the Boss Mastery milestones.

You know it worked when the teleport fires and the arena loads around you. After the kill, your Boss Token balance goes up and the kill counter in the Boss Mastery menu ticks forward. If neither moves, the boss was not finished off.

Boss Mastery rewards by boss kills

Boss Mastery is a straight progression track. It does not care how quickly you clear a boss, only how many you have killed in total. The early milestones come fast, and the +50% token boost at five kills is permanent, so it is worth reaching before you settle into a longer farming session.

3Riftborn Egg x1
5Permanent Token Boost (+50%)
10Riftbeasts Egg x1
15Mutated Riftborn Egg x1

Tip: hit the five-kill milestone early. Every token you earn after that comes with the boost attached, which shortens everything that follows.

What Boss Tokens are for

Boss Tokens are the currency the whole rift loop feeds. They stack in your balance as you clear bosses and are spent through the Boss Shop, which sits alongside the Boss Mastery track in the same menu. The mastery milestones themselves are separate and unlock purely on kill count, so you never have to choose between spending tokens and progressing the track.

The rift eggs you earn from mastery drop into your normal collection flow. Place them on your farm, wait out the hatch timer, and press hatch when it expires, the same as any other egg in the game.

Use Speed to cover more biomes per lap

Because portals spawn anywhere, the number of rifts you find scales with how much map you can physically cover. Speed does two things here. It gets you across open ground faster, and it unlocks the later biomes so there is more territory in your search rotation. Speed comes from the treadmill, and boosts like the x4 admin treadmill multiply what each session gives you.

Note: do not stop your normal egg stealing to hunt rifts. Both happen in the same zones, so running your usual steal routes doubles as a portal patrol.

The Rift Event window on Roblox

Roblox lists a dedicated rift event for Steal an Egg under the title “RIFTS ARE OPENING…”, running from September 5, 2026 at 3:00 PM UTC to September 6, 2026 at 3:00 PM UTC. That is a 24-hour window, and it is live right now. The official listing describes rifts opening across the world but does not spell out drop rates or entry conditions.

You can set a reminder or check the current status on the official Roblox event page for Steal an Egg.

The whole system rewards presence more than planning. Portals appear without warning, so the players banking the most tokens are the ones already moving when one opens. Keep your route wide, keep an eye out for purple, and let the mastery counter climb.
