The Blood of Dawnwalker: Bakir’s Headhunters — Silent to the Grave Full Quest

Clear the ambush in Porina, use both catalysts on the dead rebel, and empty the well stash for a legendary ring.

Clear the ambush in Porina, use both catalysts on the dead rebel, and empty the well stash for a legendary ring.

Silent to the Grave is one of Bakir’s Rebel Hunter Court Activities in The Blood of Dawnwalker, and it hides a second quest that most players walk straight past. The fight itself is short. The real payout comes from questioning a corpse with the right two objects, which points Coen at a dry well holding a legendary ring.

Quick answer: Kill the headhunters behind the hut, pick up Manumit’s Bandana from the bench outside and the Interrogation Instrument from the table under the shelter, then use Compel Soul on the dead rebel twice — once with each catalyst. He names the dry well, which unlocks Bakir’s Headhunters: Secret Stash. Climb down and loot the chest.

Where Silent to the Grave starts and what it costs

The activity sits in Porina, in the woods near The Wallows, at a wooden hut with a backyard shelter. It becomes available once the prologue ends, but it belongs to Bakir’s Court, which is tuned for level 20 and above. Ambrus first, then Bakir, then Xanthe is the order that keeps you from hitting an enemy wall.

Court Activities are not pinned on the map by default, so the hut shows as an unknown activity until you find it. Climbing the nearby tower first marks it with a white question mark.

Trigger the ambush and clear the backyard

Ride to the hut and go inside. Several bodies are laid out in the single room, and Coen will comment on them as you inspect the scene. Nothing here is lootable that matters to the quest.

Step back outside. Bakir’s headhunters ambush you the moment you leave the doorway, and the quest Bakir’s Headhunters: Silent to the Grave appears in the journal. Fight them in the yard rather than backing into the hut, where the doorway limits your dodges.
Kill every attacker. The quest closes as soon as the last one drops, paying out XP and a skill point. Do not fast travel away yet — the follow-up only exists while you are standing in this camp.

The two catalysts that unlock Secret Stash

Compel Soul only pulls answers out of a corpse when you hold something the dead person reacts to. The rebel under the shelter needs both items, and each one opens a different conversation.

Grab Manumit’s Bandana from the bench in front of the hut. Expect an Infamy Increased notification, which is normal for Court content and feeds into Brencis issuing more edicts.
Walk to the body slumped under the shelter behind the hut and use Compel Soul with the bandana selected as the catalyst. The rebel mistakes Coen for a comrade named Roman and talks about Bakir’s men, but gives up nothing useful on its own.

Search the shelter and take the Interrogation Instrument off the table a few steps from the body. It is easy to miss because the fight scatters loot prompts across the same area.
Compel the same body a second time and choose Use Catalyst – Interrogation Instrument in the dialogue wheel. He boasts about being the brains of the group and lets slip that he checked the well outside and found it dry.

That line is the trigger. Bakir’s Headhunters: Secret Stash appears immediately with the objective to look for the rebel stash down the old well.

Looting the well stash

Head to the stone well beside the camp and climb down. The shaft drops into a small flooded cavern, and there is no fall damage or enemy waiting at the bottom.

Pick up the document Suspicious Vrakhir in Svartrau, then open the chest. Taking the contents closes Bakir’s Headhunters: Secret Stash on the spot.

Why the well quest does not appear

Secret Stash is a sub-quest, not a separate marker on the world map, so nothing prompts you to look for it. There are only two reasons it fails to start.

  • You compelled the rebel with only one catalyst. The bandana alone never mentions the well; the Interrogation Instrument line is the one that matters.
  • You left the camp before searching the shelter table, so the second catalyst is still sitting there and the dialogue option is greyed out.

You can return later either way. Court Activities stay in the world after Bakir is dealt with, and the corpse and the well remain interactable.

Silent to the Grave is one of three Rebel Hunter activities alongside Matter of Honour and Smoke Them Out, and each one nudges Bakir’s Anger meter toward the duel quest that leads into The Lunar Game. Roughly three quarters of his Court Activities is enough to draw him out, so clearing this camp properly — bandana, instrument, well — buys you progress on the vassal and a legendary ring for the same three time segments.
