Every requirement, labyrinth boss, riddle answer, and feast dialogue line needed to kill Bakir and claim his treasury.

The Lunar Game is the infamy quest that ends Boyar Bakir’s rule over his fiefdom in The Blood of Dawnwalker. It drops Coen into a masked survival tournament inside the Lunar Manor with stripped-down gear, no vampiric powers, and a host who kills anyone he suspects. Handled correctly, it ends with Bakir dead in his own treasury and the side quest The Ring already started.

Quick answer: Anger Bakir by disrupting around seven of his operations, meet Farkas outside the Lunar Manor before dusk, clear the labyrinth without using a single vampiric ability, then play along at the feast until Bakir takes you into his treasury alone and kill him there.

How to unlock The Lunar Game and start it with Farkas

The quest does not appear on its own. You have to make yourself a problem for Bakir first by wrecking his operations across Vale Sangora — freeing prisoners from pillories, ransacking distilleries, and killing headhunters. After roughly seven disruptions, his jester Farkas turns up with a plan.

Farkas hands over a moth mask and lays out two conditions that decide the whole night. Bakir responds to both abuse and affection, so extremes work better than politeness. More importantly, you must not use any vampiric ability at any point — no shapeshifting, no Shadowstep. Bakir does not know a Dawnwalker is among his contestants, and any slip makes him suspicious.

Courtyard preparations before dusk

Accept Farkas’ invitation in the afternoon, while five time segments remain in the day. That leaves three segments to spend in the arena courtyard, and each contestant interaction burns one. Coen also starts the tournament with low-tier equipment, so upgrades have to be looted inside the fortress.

Handle the Cockroach. Activate Focus Mode, pick up the poisonous leaves growing nearby, and drop them into the cauldron of liquor. He drinks the brew and is left badly weakened when you meet him later in the maze.
Talk to the Porcupine and imply that you intend to kill Bakir. This sets up the truce you can honor inside the labyrinth.
Talk to the Marten and ask for her help against Bakir. She does not survive the maze, but the conversation costs nothing beyond the segment.
Sit through Bakir’s speech and cheer with the crowd. Avoid every response marked with the sword icon — those are the ones that break your cover before the game even begins.

Note: What you tell the Rat, Cockroach, and Porcupine follows you to the feast. Bragging about killing Bakir gives the Cockroach something to trade, and he will use it if he is still breathing at the end.

Labyrinth route and boss fights

Bakir releases infected hounds into the maze and the contestants go in after a hidden token. Save after every encounter, since healing items are scarce and your gear is poor until you start looting bodies.

In the first room, grab the chest holding vials of blood for healing. You can then crouch through the hole on the left and kill the hound waiting inside.
Spot the dead end with a red glow to the east, then turn left and squeeze through the crack in the wall.
Clear the wave of hounds in the clearing ahead and pick up any weapons and armor they drop.

Tip: Voracious Bite on the rats scattered through the maze restores health without giving you away. Farkas simply jokes that Coen had a hard life eating vermin.

Pass through the hole in the ruined tower wall and crawl under the next opening. Undead reanimate as you emerge, so be ready before you stand up.
Squeeze through the gap ahead and you run into the Porcupine. Pick “Sure. Separate ways.” to honor the truce, or fight him on the spot.
Past the gate, Murohn, Malformed Monstrosity blocks the way. The Tatzelwurm is fast and closes distance quickly, so read its lunges and punish after they land, then head through the door.
Inspect the riddle at the portcullis and choose the left hole. The trap is written by vampire lords, so the answer that reeks of blood and fear is the safe one; the pleasant-sounding right and middle options are the bait.

Silver coin shimmers on the right, / Middle feels like a summer light, / Left reeks of blood and fear, / Choose wisely, or you will scream!

Fight the Great Bog Wurm. It burrows and resurfaces with a venom spit that poisons you, so start moving the moment it breaks ground.

Climb the elevated area and take the stairs to the clearing where the Cockroach is waiting. The conversation always ends in a fight; afterwards you can spare him or finish him. This is the last chance to silence him if you told him your plan.
Reach the heart of the maze and take the token. If you let the Porcupine live, he is here, tied to the willow tree with the token in his stomach. Cutting it out yourself delights Bakir and pushes his approval as high as it goes.

Contestant choices and what they change

“We could kill Bakir, and take his whole treasury.”The Cockroach snitches at the feast if he is still alive
“If you’re so strong, you go and kill Bakir.” / “Actually, forget I said anything.”He has nothing to report and never appears at Bakir’s table
“Sure. Separate ways.” (Porcupine)He is captured and tied to the tree; killing him for the token wins major approval
“It won’t be that easy.” (Porcupine)The token is free to take, but approval stays lower

The Rat never makes it — the Cockroach kills him. The Marten dies to the Tatzelwurm regardless of whether you allied with her.

The feast: dialogue that gets you into the treasury alone

Winning earns an invitation to drink with Bakir. Every answer here decides whether you fight him one-on-one or with his whole retinue. Refuse to unmask, stay warm, and keep the flattery going.

The replies that hold your cover are “I’m sorry, but I’m not taking the mask off” (or “I’m keeping the sword, and the mask too”), “With pleasure,” “Cheers!”, “To friendship and good fortune,” “I want to die in my sleep at a ripe old age,” “Is that all? Can I get my reward now?” and “I saw no need to be cruel.” If the Cockroach is alive and talking, answer his accusation with “There’s no scheme. Cockroach lied to you.”

Take off the mask early and you fight a wave of five enemies, including Bakir’s consort, before Bakir himself. It is far harder, but it clears the manor of threats permanently. There is also a third route — asking for Farkas’ amethyst ring instead. Bakir denies owning it, leaves you with only coin as a reward, and survives.

Bakir boss fight and rewards

Once Bakir walks you into the treasury and asks what your heart desires, take the sword-icon reply — “I just want to rip out yours.” That starts the fight against Bakir, the Mad Khan with nobody else in the room.

He teleports across the room instantly and follows up with a flying kick or a punch string. His ground slam sends a blood eruption along a straight line, so dodge sideways rather than backwards. Remember that his lackeys and consort are still outside the door once he falls.

Draining his blood sends Coen to the Anachora realm, where Bakir is content to stay unless you invite him inside. It unlocks the Shadowstorm ability, which briefly slows time, along with the Realmwalker and The Mad Khan trophies. Bakir’s Armor — a legendary medium chestpiece with weapon damage, reduced dodge and block stamina costs, and stamina gain on perfect blocks — has to be looted from the ashes where he died. The legendary Vrakhiric Bracers sit in one of the chests.

The Ring: finding the amethyst ring in the treasury

Looting Bakir’s body closes The Lunar Game and immediately opens the side quest The Ring. The item you want is the Ring with a Purple Eye, sitting on the shelves toward the northwest corner of the treasury. Everything else in the room is free to take and sell.

Inspecting it reveals it is magical. Handing it to Farkas ends The Ring on the spot. Keeping it instead leaves the quest open with a new objective to find someone who can explain what it does.

Why the quest goes wrong

  • Using Shadowstep or shapeshifting at any point in the manor tips Bakir off that you are not human.
  • Picking a sword-icon response during Bakir’s speech breaks your cover before the maze.
  • Telling the Cockroach you plan to kill Bakir and then sparing him means he reports you at the table.
  • Cold or hostile answers at the feast lead to the harder five-enemy version of the fight.
  • Choosing the right or middle hole at the portcullis springs the trap.
  • Leaving the treasury without looting Bakir’s ashes forfeits his armor.

You know the run worked when the journal marks The Lunar Game complete as you loot Bakir and The Ring appears in its place. From there it is just a matter of clearing the shelves before you walk back out past whatever is left of his household.
