The Blood of Dawnwalker: How to Complete the Enter Not Side Quest

Get inside the boarded-up house near Laslea Glen, take the Figurine of St. Jude, and return it to Father Florin.

Get inside the boarded-up house near Laslea Glen, take the Figurine of St. Jude, and return it to Father Florin.

Enter Not is a small, self-contained side quest in The Blood of Dawnwalker that starts the moment Coen walks close enough to a ruined house to hear something moving inside. The front door is boarded shut, the windows are too small to squeeze through, and the only way in is over the roof. What waits inside is the body of a plague victim named Ursula and a stolen church figurine she wanted returned.

Quick answer: Climb the shed next to the boarded-up house, cross the hayloft to the boards laid over the gap, and drop through the hole in the roof. Loot Ursula’s body for the Figurine of St. Jude, then take it to Father Florin at the church in Laslea to end the quest.

Enter Not quest requirements and starting location

The house sits northwest of Laslea Glen village, just south of the Blackwater Hollow shrine and along the path toward the peat bogs. The quest is added to your journal automatically once you get close enough to hear the noise coming from inside, so there is no one to talk to first. It appears during the prologue, but nothing forces you to finish it then.

If you are doing the afternoon activities before the Mass, this fits neatly into that window. The Live Bait quest takes Coen and his siblings down to the river near the shrine, which puts you a short walk from the house.

How to get inside the boarded-up house

Walk up to the house and try the front door. Coen will comment on the state of the place and the graves outside, and the door itself is boarded over. Circle the building if you like, but every window is too narrow to climb through.

Face the blocked door and turn right. There is a shed attached to the barn beside the house with a low, broken roof that works as a platform. Climb onto it and pull yourself up into the hayloft.
Head to the west end of the barn. Boards have been laid across the gap between the two buildings, which lets you walk over to the hole in the house’s roof. Drop through it to land inside.

Before you go up, sweep the debris and the sack outside the house. There is loose loot scattered around the exterior that you cannot come back for as easily once you are inside.

What to loot inside the house

Coen immediately reacts to the smell once he lands. Hold Focus Mode (L2 on PlayStation, LT on Xbox) to highlight what matters. Focus Mode is what pushes the objective forward, so use it before you start rummaging. There is also a marten’s den in here, which explains the scratching that drew you over in the first place.

Two containers are worth your time. The chest on the table holds documents and coin, and Ursula’s remains in the corner, under the collapsed roof structure, hold the quest item.

SourceContents
Chest on the tableKnyaz Skender’s Orders, Recipe for Mending Ointment, 19 Denarius, Golden Brooch
Ursula’s bodyLost Confession, Figurine of St. Jude, 1 Rotten Apple, 5 Denarius

The burnt note in the chest is the quarantine order, signed by Shunder Diagost, Knyaz of Vale Sangora. It is the other half of the story: the church and the authorities sealed the sick inside their own homes and left them there.

Unlocking the Mending Ointment recipe

Picking up the Recipe for Mending Ointment does not teach it to you. Open your inventory, select the recipe, and use it to read it. A “NEW RECIPE UNLOCKED” message confirms it registered, and Mending Ointment then appears alongside Minor Mending Ointment in your crafting list. One batch takes 1 Linseed Oil and 13 Comfrey.

Ursula’s confession and the Figurine of St. Jude

Read the Lost Confession after looting the body. Ursula writes that she was dying of the plague with no one left to care for her, and that when things got worse she took the Figurine of St. Jude from the church hoping it would shield her family. It did not. The illness took them one by one until she was the last, and she came to believe the theft was the cause. Her final request is that whoever finds the note returns the figurine.

Taking the figurine updates the journal with a new objective to return it. Climb back out through the roof the way you came in.

How to return the figurine to Father Florin

Open the map and follow the quest marker back toward the village and up the path to the church gates. If you have already activated the Blackwater Hollow shrine, fast travel from there instead of walking.

Cross the courtyard and enter the chapel. Father Florin is standing by the altar.
Talk to him and pick the dialogue option “This figurine – I think it belongs here.” Coen hands it over, they discuss what happened to Ursula, and Florin says the statue will be destroyed because it depicts a false saint. He does not offer anything in return.

Note: if you save this for after the Mass rather than finishing it in the prologue, Florin is not required. Walk into the church and place the figurine on the altar to close the quest out.

How to confirm Enter Not is complete

Three things happen at once when it lands. A “QUEST ENDED” banner appears for Enter Not, XP is awarded, and “Figurine of St. Jude (-1)” flashes up as the item leaves your inventory. You also get a “NEW GLOSSARY ENTRY ADDED” notification for Florin, which you can check in the glossary to verify.

If the quest is not advancing, check the two usual causes. The objective to investigate will not tick over until you use Focus Mode inside the house, and the Mending Ointment recipe stays locked until you read it from the inventory rather than just carrying it.

Enter Not does not branch into the wider story or change anything about Coen’s situation. It is a short detour that pays out a crafting recipe, some coin, and a fairly bleak piece of context about how the valley handled its plague dead, and the figurine gets a brief mention later during the Mass.
