The Blood of Dawnwalker: How to Find Out What Ambrus’s Soldiers Need Leeches For

The wetland camp location, the body that holds the document, and the three collector quests it unlocks.

Ambrus runs a blood-trafficking operation across Vale Sangora, and one of its stranger branches involves soldiers harvesting leeches out of the marshes. The objective asking you to work out why sits in a small camp in the wetlands, and it resolves the moment you read one specific document off one specific corpse.

Quick answer: Travel to the soldier camp in the wetlands between the Rhon Swamps and the Sinnabar Wetlands, kill the guards, then loot the body highlighted in yellow by your scan ability and read “Instructions from Boyar Ambrus” — the leeches are used to store blood for feeding boyars and knyazes.

Where the soldier camp is located

The camp sits in the marshland between the Rhon Swamps and the Sinnabar Wetlands, marked on your map as a cluster of tents behind a wooden bridge. There is no dialogue trigger and no NPC to talk to first. The entire objective is contained inside that one encampment, so travelling there is the only prerequisite.

Stepping across the bridge flags the area as TRESPASSING. That warning turns the soldiers hostile on sight, and there is no stealth or persuasion route that avoids the fight.

How to complete the leech objective

Open the map and set a marker on the encampment in the wetlands. It is a short ride, and you do not need to arrive at any particular time of day.
Cross the wooden bridge into the camp. The trespassing warning appears immediately and the guards begin closing in on you.

Kill every soldier in the camp. They attack in a loose group rather than all at once, so pulling back toward the bridge keeps you from being surrounded.

Clear out any stragglers that ran off between the tents. The camp needs to be empty before you can search it without being interrupted.

Use your scan ability from the middle of the camp. One body lights up in yellow — that is the soldier carrying the paperwork, and it is easy to walk past without scanning.

Loot the highlighted body. It yields Instructions from Ambrus along with a Vial of Human Blood.
Open your inventory and read the document. The objective only closes once the text is actually displayed, not when the item enters your bags.

What the leeches are actually for

The document is a standing order signed by Boyar Ambrus. The leeches are being collected as living storage vessels — they hold blood drawn from the local population so it can be kept and later fed to boyars and knyazes. It reframes the leech farms scattered around Ambrus’s territory as part of the same supply chain as his blood cellars, rather than an unrelated bit of peasant labour.

Note: the Vial of Human Blood that drops alongside the document is a usable healing item in vampire form, so hold onto it rather than selling it off.

Loot the remaining bodies to unlock three collector quests

Once the objective ticks over, do not leave the camp yet. Searching the other corpses opens three separate side quests in the Ambrus’s Collectors chain, each of which feeds his anger meter when completed.

The rest of the camp’s contents are ordinary gear and consumables, but a few are worth grabbing before you ride out.

How to confirm the objective completed

The tracked objective line disappears from the HUD the instant the document text is on screen, and the quest log advances. If it has not updated, one of two things is usually the cause. Either you picked up the Instructions from Ambrus but never opened them, or you looted several bodies without scanning and missed the yellow-highlighted soldier entirely.

Clearing this camp also nudges Ambrus’s anger level in the Court tab, which is the meter that eventually unlocks The Gilded Gauntlet and the duel with him. Wiping out his leech-pickers alongside his blood cellars and prisoner holds is what pushes that gauge to its maximum.
