The Blood of Dawnwalker: How to Search Breslauer’s Attic Using Focus Mode

The “Search Breslauer’s attic using Focus Mode” objective belongs to the quest Destroyed Shrines: Hidden & Safe in The Blood of Dawnwalker. It looks like a free-form loot sweep, but only one interaction actually moves the quest forward, and everything else in the room is optional.

Quick answer: Turn on Focus Mode in the attic and interact with the desk covered in papers. Coen inspects the drawings and maps of hidden shrines, you receive the Map of Wayside Shrines and Appeal, and the objective changes to Find the stash.

Focus Mode is the game’s investigation vision. On a controller you hold the left trigger; on mouse and keyboard it is the right mouse button. The screen desaturates and anything worth touching gets colour-coded, which is the only reliable way to pick out the correct desk in a cluttered, dimly lit attic.

The desk you need is the gold-marked object. White objects are safe to note but not urgent, and taking things that belong to someone else can still land you in trouble.

Working through the attic room by room

Open the journal and track Destroyed Shrines: Hidden & Safe so the attic objective stays pinned on screen. The related quest Enshrined Obsession uses its own wording, “Investigate the attic using Focus Mode”, and both resolve from the same search.

Close the menu, hold Focus Mode, and walk the attic’s connected rooms. Several doors up here are locked and are not part of the objective, so do not waste time trying to force them.

Loot the wardrobe. It holds an Elegant Indigo Shirt, a Minor Mending Ointment, and Milk with honey. None of it is required for the objective, but the ointment and food are worth carrying.

Clear the containers near the bed and use Loot All rather than picking through items one by one. A Common Light Chestpiece at 63 Armour also turns up in this part of the attic.

Look at the religious icons hung on the wall. Coen comments on them, which confirms you are in the right space, though the icons themselves do not tick the objective.

Find the desk stacked with papers and interact with it. This starts an inspection sequence where Coen goes through the drawings and the maps marking out the hidden shrines.

Rewards and how to confirm the objective completed

Once the desk inspection finishes, two items land in your inventory and the tracker changes on its own. If the objective text still reads the same after you leave the desk, the inspection sequence did not run and you need to interact with the papers again.

Opening the journal is the fastest way to double-check. The Destroyed Shrines: Hidden & Safe entry should now list Find the stash, and the Map of Wayside Shrines points you toward the shrine locations in and around Svartrau City.

The time skip when you leave the attic

Stepping out onto the balcony ends the sequence and pushes the clock from Midnight to Wee Hours. Enshrined Obsession is marked as completed at that moment. Because the game runs on a fixed clock, treat that skip as a cost. Finish any looting, selling, or nearby errands inside the attic before you head for the balcony.

Note: night is also when Vampirism abilities are usable, so if you were planning to lean on them, the transition out of Midnight narrows that window.

From there, the trail continues with Find the stash. Keep Focus Mode on while you travel, since the same highlight system that surfaced the desk will pick out footprints, containers, and the shrines the map now points you to.
