The Blood of Dawnwalker: Tantari Woods Treasure Map Solution

Where to loot the bandit map, the exact dig site east of Svartby City, and what the buried chest holds.

Where to loot the bandit map, the exact dig site east of Svartby City, and what the buried chest holds.

Treasure Map: Tantari Woods is one of ten quest-tier maps scattered across Vale Sangora in The Blood of Dawnwalker, and it is one of the more rewarding ones because the chest it points to holds a fixed Legendary item. The map itself sits in a bandit camp, and the treasure is nowhere near it.

Quick answer: Steal Treasure Map: Tantari Woods from the wooden bench beside the campfire in the Tantari Woods bandit camp, then travel to the swamp east of Svartby City, cross the wooden bridge, and dig the dirt mound to open the chest.

What you need before digging in Tantari Woods

Every buried treasure in the game shares the same two requirements, so sort them out before you make the trip.

RequirementDetail
ShovelYou cannot interact with disturbed earth without one. Shovels are commonly found lying near dig sites and in camps.
In-game timeDigging advances the clock by hours. Plan around it if you are managing the day/night cycle.
Focus ModeUseful for pinpointing the exact mound once you are in the right area.

Treasure Map: Tantari Woods location (bandit camp)

Travel to the bandit camp marked in Tantari Woods. It is a small outdoor camp built around a campfire, and it is hostile, so expect to clear it before you can search anything properly.

Loot the bodies scattered around the camp. They carry gear, coin, and consumables, and it costs you nothing on the way to the map.

Find the wooden bench next to the campfire and take Treasure Map: Tantari Woods from it. There is also a chest nearby worth opening while you are standing there.
Open your inventory and inspect the map. It shows a hand-drawn sketch rather than a precise marker, so read it once and then rely on the map marker it adds.

Tantari Woods treasure location: The swamp east of Svartby City

The dig site is not in Tantari Woods at all. The buried chest sits in the swampy ground east of Svartby City, a long ride from where the map was looted.

Fast travel to the nearest point around Svartby City and head east into the marshland until the ground turns soft and waterlogged.
Cross the wooden bridge in the swamp. It is the clearest landmark in the area and the dig spot sits close to it.

Look for the raised mound of loose dirt and interact with it to start digging. Focus Mode makes the mound easier to spot against the murky ground.
When the dig finishes, open the unearthed chest and take everything. The map is consumed and the treasure hunt closes out at this point.

The Knightly Ring is inside the Tantari Woods chest

The reason this particular map is worth the trip is the Knightly Ring, a Legendary item with a fixed spawn. It is one of a small handful of Legendaries in the game that always appear in the same place, alongside the Arbiter’s Medallion, the Mindbrace Amulet, and the Ancient Footwear. Everything else in the Legendary pool rolls randomly from chests, enemies, and vendors.

The chest also pays out coin and general loot on top of the ring, which is displayed on the Quest Ended screen before you choose Loot All.

You can dig the chest without owning the map

The bandit camp trip is optional. The dig site exists in the world whether or not the map is in your inventory, so if you already know where the mound is, you can walk straight to the swamp and pull the Knightly Ring out of the ground without ever picking up Treasure Map: Tantari Woods.

Note: taking the map first is still the cleaner route if you want the treasure hunt logged as a completed objective, and the camp itself is a decent loot stop regardless.

Why the dig prompt does not appear

If you are standing on disturbed earth and nothing happens, the cause is almost always one of two things.

  • You do not have a shovel. Inspecting the mound will tell you a shovel is needed; check the immediate surroundings, as one is usually within a short walk.
  • You are on the wrong patch of ground. The hand-drawn sketch on these maps is approximate, so trust the swamp landmarks and the wooden bridge over the illustrated X.

You will know it worked when the Quest Ended banner appears over the loot window listing the chest contents. Once you have taken the items, the treasure hunt is finished and the map no longer occupies an inventory slot.
