Raven landed in The First Descendant on August 20, 2026 with Update 1.4.0, and the balance passes since then have reshaped how she plays. Version 1.4.2 changed how Raven’s Claw stacks are generated, capped how many can exist, and trimmed the defensive value of Shadow Step. The result is three setups that are genuinely distinct rather than three flavors of the same build.
Quick answer: For single-target bossing, run Nightfall with Domino Drive and Chain Reaction. For general mobbing, run Nightfall with Power Beyond and Breach Explorer. Only run Law of the Back Alley if your Max Shield sits at or above 70,000.
Raven kit changes in version 1.4.2
Two adjustments matter more than everything else. Raven’s Claw is now capped at 10 active summons, and any Claw further than 65 meters from you despawns. That turns Claw uptime from a spam contest into a positioning problem, because parking outside your own summon radius silently deletes your damage.
Shadow Step is the bigger rework. It now generates Raven’s Claw stacks itself, which rewrites the rotation entirely, but its damage negation dropped from seven instances to three. Effective HP took a hit alongside it. Shadow Step is still a damage window and a stack generator, just no longer a get-out-of-jail button you can lean on for a whole pull.
| Mechanic | Current behavior |
|---|---|
| Raven’s Claw max summons | 10 active |
| Raven’s Claw despawn range | 65 meters |
| Shadow Step damage negation | 3 instances (reduced from 7) |
| Shadow Step secondary effect | Generates Raven’s Claw stacks |

Add to Google Preferences →Nightfall Hard: Best Raven bossing build
This is the single-target setup for Colossus fights and Conquest difficulty, and its whole identity is Domino Drive paired with Chain Reaction. Raven’s hit rate under Nightfall is extremely high, which is exactly what Domino Drive wants, so the pairing scales far better on a boss than the alternatives.
Measured against the Wall Crusher, Domino leads on every meaningful number. The gap in average DPS is modest, but the burst ceiling is where it separates.
| Trigger module | Avg DPS | Max DPS | Total damage |
|---|---|---|---|
| Domino Drive | 18,169,719 | 61,685,629 | 337,353,819 |
| Infection Amplifier | 15,977,765 | 54,138,105 | 335,843,059 |
| Breach Explorer | 16,874,619 | 44,995,881 | 319,284,925 |
Around that core, the module page is a straightforward skill-crit shell. Nightfall sits in the skill module slot, with Power Increase, Skill Concentration, Skill Insight and Skill Expansion carrying skill power, crit and range. Non-Attribute Integration, MP Conversion, Nimble Fingers and Emergency Measures fill out the rest, and Shadow’s Resolve goes in as the Ancestor module once you have decent rolls on it.

For the Ancestor module, prioritize Skill Critical Hit Damage plus a Singular or Non-Attribute Skill Power Boost Ratio roll. Skill Cooldown and Skill Effect Range are good secondaries, and the negative roll should be something harmless. Swap it in for whichever standard module shares its main stat so the extra perks come free.
Nightfall Easy: Best Raven mobbing build
Against packs that actually die, Domino’s ramp never gets to pay off. Power Beyond with Breach Explorer wins here because the damage lands instantly, which is the only thing that matters when a room clears in a couple of casts. Onslaught, Trials and Sigma Sector runs all want this version.
The rest of the loadout barely changes from the bossing setup, so this is a trigger module swap plus minor slot shuffling rather than a rebuild. Keep Skill Cooldown high, because Claw uptime is what feeds the Nightfall passive’s stacking Skill Critical Hit Rate.

If you keep both versions on hand, save them to separate Descendant module settings. Swapping between a Domino boss page and a Power Beyond mobbing page mid-session is otherwise a lot of manual re-socketing, and module capacity is tight enough that you will want Energy Activators and Crystallization Catalysts fully invested first.

Gear for both Nightfall builds
Both Nightfall setups share the same equipment package, which makes gearing simpler than the module page suggests.
| Slot | Pick |
|---|---|
| Weapon | ATR-0 Prototype (Non-Attribute stat stick, Brisk Walk module) |
| Reactor | Materialized Singularity Reactor, Skill Crit Damage / Skill Cooldown |
| External components | Enlightened Mage, 4-piece |
| Arche Tuning | Right and upper-right nodes; Arche Chain Catalyst mutant cell |
| Ancestor module | Shadow’s Resolve |
The ATR-0 Prototype is doing almost nothing as a gun here. You are equipping it for its Non-Attribute Skill Power Amplification Rate and its transcendent ability, so readjustments should push Non-Attribute Skill Power Amplify Ratio and Lethal Arche II rather than raw firearm stats.
The 4-piece Enlightened Mage set carries a Firearm ATK penalty, which is irrelevant on a skill build, in exchange for Truth stacks that push Non-Attribute Skill Power Boost Ratio well up when you keep casting Non-Attribute skills. On Arche Tuning, prioritize skill power, skill critical hit damage, skill cooldown and skill effect range, with Defense Neutralization available as a supporting option. Inversion Reinforcement picks across these setups include Module Armor Activation, Pain Suppression, Photon Decay Reaction, Emergency Armor Activation, Module Deployment Maximization and Strike Point Amplification.
Raven builds commonly pair with the Hagios Sheepdog fellow set to Auto HP Recovery, which you configure from the Manage Fellows menu in your inventory.

Law of the Back Alley: The 70,000 shield build
This is the weapon damage build, and it is all-or-nothing. Law of the Back Alley scales firearm damage by up to 280% off your shield pool, and there is a hard breakpoint at 70,000 Max Shield. Sitting at 65,000 does not give you a slightly smaller multiplier — the damage falls off a cliff. Check the stat before you load in.

Because of that, every module slot is spent on shield and HP rather than damage stats. Increased Shield, Overwhelming Shield, Increased HP, HP Conversion, Stim Accelerant, Maximize Duration, Amplification Control and Time Distribution make up the shell. There is no room for skill power here, and adding any is a net loss if it costs you the breakpoint.
| Slot | Pick |
|---|---|
| Weapon | Nazeistra’s Devotion |
| Reactor | Materialized Mixture Reactor |
| External components | Hazmat Disposal Team and Shell Crusher |
| Trigger module | Perfect Positioning or Kuiper Hollow Points |
| Inversion | Shield Particle Reconfiguration |
The loop is short. Cast any of skills 1, 2 or 3 to apply Edicts to your target, then cast Midnight Hunt (4) to apply the full set at once. Shoot the target with Nazeistra’s Devotion to shred defense, and the shield-scaled additional damage does the rest.
Note: If your numbers look flat, there are only two likely causes. Either your Max Shield dropped below 70,000, or you fired before Midnight Hunt finished applying Edicts. Both are visible on screen, so verify the shield stat first and the Edict debuff on the target second.
Which Raven build to farm first
If you are picking one, build Nightfall. It covers both mobbing and bossing off a single gear set, and the only thing separating the two versions is a trigger module. Law of the Back Alley is the stronger showpiece when it comes together, but it demands a dedicated shield-stacking component and module setup that does nothing for your other content.
Whichever direction you go, treat Skill Cooldown as the stat that carries the Nightfall builds and Max Shield as the stat that carries the shield build. Everything else is tuning around those two numbers.
