The Last Caretaker: How to Get Bioregulator

Bio Flesh from sharks is the only input, and a powered Soilforge turns it into Bioregulator.

Bioregulator is one of the high-tier food materials in The Last Caretaker, and it cannot be scavenged from crates or pulled out of ordinary biomass. It comes from exactly one organic input, processed in one machine, and that machine needs both water and power before it will run.

Quick answer: Kill a shark, dismantle the body to get Bio Flesh, then feed that Bio Flesh into a Soilforge with fresh water and electricity connected. Bioregulator drops from the output chute.

UtilitiesFresh Water input plus Electricity input

The Soilforge is classed in the Skills menu as a Bio-recycler – Tier 1, and its listed draw is Electricity 50.0 Wth alongside a fresh water supply. A water purifier feeding the machine’s Fresh Water Input port is enough to satisfy the liquid side.

Where to get Bio Flesh

Bio Flesh is the red biomass that only large ocean creatures drop. Slimes, seaweed hauls and cocoons will never give it to you, which is why players with boxes full of biomass still end up with zero Bioregulator.

  • Talon Sharks patrolling open water, which keep respawning
  • Angels, which are far less reliable as a repeat source
  • Shark and Angel corpses already lying around certain points of interest
Take a weapon out on the water and kill a shark. You can shoot from the deck of your boat, and sharks are frequent enough that you rarely have to hunt for long.

Swim or pull up to the carcass and use your dismantle tool on it. The body breaks down into Bio Flesh, and sharks also tend to hand over High- and Ultra-Tech Scraps in the process.

Check the item in your inventory and the description confirms you have the right material. Bio Flesh is listed as a Tier 1 organic and is recyclable, with Bio Organic, Bioregulator and Mitochondrial Amplifier all named as possible recycling output.

Sharks are a renewable supply, so it is worth killing them whenever one crosses your route instead of saving a single stack of Bio Flesh for later.

Unlock and build the Soilforge

Open the Skills menu and find the Soilforge entry under Buildings. It sits behind a tier requirement of 10 and costs one skill point, so you cannot build it before you hit that level.

Place the Soilforge somewhere with room around it, since you will need to reach both the input panel and the output chute on the opposite side of the machine.
Hook up the two utility ports. Run a cable to the electricity input and a water line from a purifier to the Fresh Water Input, which reads 0 L/h until it is actually supplied.

Process Bio Flesh in the Soilforge

Interact with the machine and move your Bio Flesh into the Soilforge’s input inventory. The prompt on the machine reads [E] Soilforge.

Walk around to the output tube on the other side and pick up what the machine spits out. A batch of Bio Flesh yields Bioregulator along with Mitochondrial Amplifier and Bio Organic, so the same run covers several food materials at once.

A Soilforge Prime accepts the same input, so an upgraded line does not change the recipe.

Confirm the Bioregulator landed in your inventory

After taking the output from the chute, open your backpack. Bioregulator appears as a Tier 1 organic: a transparent glowing fluid with a faint green cast that maintains metabolic balance and strengthens immune defenses. If the slot remains empty, the flesh either never reached the input panel, or the machine lacked water or power while you waited.

What Bioregulator is used for

Bioregulator is an ingredient in the Food Processor, and it appears in the top end of the recipe list.

  • Mitochondrial Surge
  • Hyper-Evolution
  • Ultimate Genesis

Because Bio Flesh produces Bioregulator and Mitochondrial Amplifier from the same shredding pass, a steady shark route plus one powered Soilforge covers most of what the best food recipes ask for. Keep the machine supplied and you can skip farming low-tier biomass almost entirely.
