The Morgue Shift Beginner's Guide: Map, Tasks, and Entity Survival

The Morgue Shift drops you into a night job at an Indonesian hospital morgue, where signs are in Bahasa Indonesia and the dead don't always cooperate. Speed, map knowledge, and knowing which entity will actually kill you are the three things that separate a clean shift from an early trip into the cremator.

Quick answer: Handle more than 10 bodies before 6 AM, never refuse a phone call, and shut any door that screeches at you to lock the red-eyed entity inside.

Hospital map and room functions

The building has two floors connected by ramps on either side of the first-floor hallway. Most of your work happens on the ground floor, while the second floor handles embalming, restocking, and power resets. Memorizing room positions matters because you cannot run, and getting lost burns shift time you cannot afford to lose.

Room (Indonesian)FloorPurpose
Lobby1Spawn point, phone calls, elevator return
Ruang Sterilisasi1Wash and shroud bodies
Ruang Doktor Forensik1Autopsy and computer logging
Ruang Kremasi1Cremation and urn preparation
Ruang Jenazah1Body freezer storage
Ruang Pengawetan2Embalming process
Ruang Penyimpanan2Restocking supplies and coffins
Ruang Elektrikal2Power restoration when lights cut out
Ruang Musholla2Praying room (no current tasks)
Ruang Duka2Viewing room (no current tasks)

Sterilization task

Sterilization is the most common assignment and usually the fastest if you don't fumble the soap. The room sits to the left of the lobby on floor one. Some calls only require a wash, while others add a shroud wrap before the body returns to the ward.

Step 1: Grab the stretcher from the elevator after answering the phone, then wheel it into Ruang Sterilisasi and park it next to one of the side platforms.

Step 2: Move the body onto the platform and push the stretcher out of the way so it doesn't block your path during the wash cycle.

Step 3: Turn on the water tap, pick up the soap from the shelf near the door, and scrub the body. Turn the water off when finished.

Step 4: If shrouding is required, grab the sheet from the opposite shelf, lay it on the central table, move the body onto the cloth, and wrap it. Otherwise, return the body to the stretcher and head back to the elevator.

Cremation task

The cremation room sits opposite the sterilization corridor, to the right of the lobby. The flow is mechanical but has more individual interactions than washing, so keep your inputs deliberate.

Step 1: Park the stretcher across from the cremator, open the chamber, and place the body on the frame inside.

Step 2: Close the cremator and activate it. Wait for the cycle to finish before reopening it.

Step 3: Move the remaining bones into the grinder and turn it on. When the grinder stops, take an urn from the shelf.

Step 4: Transfer the ashes into the urn, place the urn on the stretcher, and wheel it back to the elevator before calling the nurse.

👻
A small giggling figure called the Crematory Goblin sometimes hides inside the cremator and jumps out when you open it. It cannot harm you, but it will make you flinch.

Autopsy task

Autopsies route the body into freezer storage instead of back upstairs. The autopsy room shares the sterilization hallway, with its door on the right.

Step 1: Place the stretcher beside the autopsy table, move the body across, and wheel the stretcher clear.

Step 2: Interact with the body to perform the autopsy, then log the results at the computer.

Step 3: Return the body to the stretcher and push it to Ruang Jenazah at the far right of floor one. Open the freezer drawer indicated by the task and slide the body in.

Step 4: Close the freezer, return the empty stretcher to the lobby, call the nurse, and load the stretcher back into the elevator.

⚠️
If the autopsy reveals missing organs and the game offers a prompt to call the police, refusing is the only way to survive. Calling triggers the Truth Behind ending, where the nurses gas the room and cremate you.

Embalming on floor two

Embalming is the longest single task and includes two minigames. The Embalming Room (Ruang Pengawetan) sits to the left of the Electrical Room on the second floor, reached by either ramp.

Step 1: Push the stretcher up the ramp and into the room. Move the body onto the central platform.

Step 2: Take the needle from the left shelf and sew the mouth shut. A timing bar slides back and forth, and you must click when the marker hits the red zone.

Step 3: Place eyecaps from the same shelf onto the body, then grab a scalpel from the tray to make a straight-line incision by dragging.

Step 4: Connect the arterial tube to the machine on the right, fill it with embalming fluid from the right shelf, and wait for the pump to finish.

Step 5: Wheel the stretcher across the hallway to the Storage Room (Ruang Penyimpanan), pick up a coffin, return for the body, and finish the assignment.

Fetching bodies and cleaning floors

Sometimes the elevator delivers an empty stretcher. That signals a retrieval task. Take the stretcher to Ruang Jenazah, open the freezer drawer the call specified, slide the body onto the stretcher, and wait for the next instruction.

Cleaning calls require the broom that already sits in your inventory. The room itself is not the target. Walk the hallways and rooms looking for blood or dirt stains on the floor, equip the broom near the stain, and the prompt will appear.

Entities and how to handle them

The morgue throws two categories at you. Most encounters are jumpscares designed to drain your time and nerves. Only one entity actually kills.

Red-eyed EntitySpawns behind a closed door every 30 in-game minutes, screeches when you open it, one-shot killSlam the door shut before it exits, or kite it around ramp corners until it despawns

Speed tips that change your ending

You need to process more than 10 bodies before 6 AM to meet operational requirements and avoid the Shift Incomplete result. Since you cannot run, every saved second matters.

  • Move toward the elevator the moment you hang up the phone, so the stretcher is in your hands as it arrives.
  • Interaction prompts have generous range. Trigger them from a step or two away rather than aligning perfectly to platforms.
  • The stretcher must approach a body from the right side. Position accordingly to skip a re-park.
  • After a task, call the nurse and immediately push the stretcher into the elevator doors. The lift accepts it as soon as it arrives, even before the doors fully open.
  • Never refuse a phone call. Refusing fires you outright.

Endings overview

EndingTrigger
True EndingComplete the full shift without major mistakes and survive until morning
Private InvitationWork fast and efficiently to be invited to dinner with the nurses; shift ends before 6 AM
Shift IncompleteProcess fewer than the required number of bodies before the shift ends
Failed ShiftUse the End Shift prompt on the schedule board before completing tasks
You're FiredRefuse incoming bodies on the phone
The Truth BehindCall the police after finding a body with missing organs during autopsy
Killed by EntityCaught by the red-eyed entity

Treat the first hour as practice. Once the room layout clicks and you stop second-guessing which corridor leads where, the workflow settles into a rhythm. The jumpscares stop landing, the red-eyed entity becomes a 30-minute checkpoint rather than a threat, and the True Ending stops feeling out of reach.
