Bloody Captain is a Mythic-rarity support unit added to Universal Tower Defense Z in the 4.0 update. Based on Retsu Unohana from Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, it cleanses Stun debuffs, boosts allied Damage, and — after evolving — can pour half of its own Damage into a nearby Berserker to turn that unit into a much stronger carry.
Quick answer: Pull Bloody Captain from the Special Banner or Selection Banner (0.1471% base chance, Mythic pity at the 400th summon), then evolve it into Bloody Captain (Healer) using 3x Universal Fragment, 6x Burning Fragment, 10x Petal Fragment, 1x Stained Blade, and 30,000 Gold.
How to summon Bloody Captain in Universal Tower Defense Z
Bloody Captain appears on two summon pools. Both the Special Banner and the Selection Banner can give you the unit, and it carries a 0.1471% base summon chance. Because that rate is low, hold onto thousands of Gems before you start pulling.

Any Mythic sitting in the center of a banner has a higher summon chance than the other Mythic units. When Bloody Captain occupies that featured center slot on the Special Banner, keep spending Gems there. The pity meter guarantees a Mythic unit on your 400th pull, so you are never pulling with nothing to show for it.
The featured character on the Special Banner rotates every hour, which makes timing awkward if you are chasing one specific unit. The Selection Banner solves that. It lets you set the priority unit yourself, so choosing Bloody Captain raises your odds of landing it over other Mythics.
A Shiny version of Bloody Captain also exists and can drop from the same gacha pulls.

Add to Google Preferences →Evolution requirements for Bloody Captain (Healer)
Bloody Captain evolves into Bloody Captain (Healer). Open the Evolutions menu, select the unit, gather every item below, then press the “Evolve!” button.
| Material | Amount |
|---|---|
| Universal Fragment | 3 |
| Burning Fragment | 6 |
| Petal Fragment | 10 |
| Stained Blade | 1 |
| Gold | 30,000 |
The three Fragment types come from clearing Challenges and Legend Stage Acts. You can also buy them from the Merchant and the Virtual Merchant if you would rather spend currency than grind stages.
Stained Blade is the gating item. It is sold in the Soul Reaper Raid Shop for 300 Soul Reaper Badges, and you earn those badges by completing Acts in the Reaper City Raid. Plan several Raid runs, since one blade is exactly what the evolution needs.
You know the evolution worked when Bloody Captain (Healer) replaces the base unit in your roster and becomes selectable as the upgraded form.
Bloody Captain (Healer) passive abilities
The evolved unit is at its strongest when a Berserker, or its evolved version, stands inside its range. In that situation it gives up part of its own Damage and hands double Damage to the Berserker. On its own it also applies Bleed and Bloodloss debuffs that chip away at enemy health over time.

Captain of Squad 13
- Every 30 seconds, cleanses Stuns from all units in range.
- Gains +5% Damage for each unit it cleanses, up to a maximum of +100% Damage.
Formal Berserker
- At max upgrade, Bloody Captain (Healer) enters her Release state.
- Applies Bleed to enemies in range, dealing +50% damage.
- When an enemy in range is Bleeding, applies Bloodloss equal to 30% of the unit’s Damage.
- Bloodloss makes Bleed last 50% longer and causes the enemy to take +25% Bleed Damage.
- If a Berserker is in range, the unit sacrifices 50% of its Damage and gives 100% of that amount to the Berserker.
Role, placement, and best trait
Bloody Captain fills the Specialist role and uses the Ground placement type, so it needs floor space near your carries rather than a hill slot. Bloody Captain (Healer) has a spawn cost of 1000 Yen.
Since the unit exists to support, the Sacred Trait is the pick that pays off most. It lowers the spawn cost and improves the unit’s stats, which lets you field several copies around a single Berserker to stack that damage transfer. Build your placement so the Berserker always sits inside range, and keep the cleanse timer working for the rest of your team.
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Rarity | Mythic |
| Role | Specialist (support) |
| Placement | Ground |
| Base summon chance | 0.1471% |
| Evolved spawn cost | 1000 Yen |
| Recommended trait | Sacred |
Bloody Captain rewards a specific setup rather than raw damage. Get it evolved, roll Sacred, and anchor it beside a Berserker, and the pair turns Unohana’s sacrifice mechanic into one of the game’s most direct damage multipliers.
