Werewolves in Vampire Life don’t come from a quest, a boss, or a shop. You get them through a scratch from another werewolf, and that scratch works only on a human character. Infection is luck-based, and the transformation itself waits for the moon.
Quick answer: As a human, have a werewolf player or a werewolf NPC at level 6000+ scratch your back. Every scratch gives you a 5% chance of infection. Once infected, you transform at the next full moon.
Werewolf infection requirements in Vampire Life
The game checks a few conditions before a scratch can count. If any of them fails, the scratch only does damage.
- Your character must be Human. Vampires, witches, and other races can’t be infected directly.
- You need a werewolf to scratch you. That can be another player with the race or a werewolf NPC at level 6000 or higher.
- The scratch has to land on your character’s back.
- A full moon (the large moon in the night sky) has to rise before an infected character transforms.
Your race shows on your overhead nameplate. A fresh character reads something like “Human Lv 3”, so check that tag before you go looking for a werewolf.

Vampires burn in direct sunlight. If you’re making the trip as a vampire, go at night or wait out the daytime inside a building so you reach the merchant alive.

Werewolf scratch odds: How many hits it can take
Each scratch has a flat 5% infection chance, and nothing guarantees success after a set number of hits. If each scratch counts as an independent roll, your odds of being infected at least once build up slowly:
| Scratches taken | Chance of at least one infection |
|---|---|
| 1 | 5% |
| 10 | About 40% |
| 20 | About 64% |
| 45 | About 90% |
Even 45 scratches leaves roughly a 1-in-10 chance that you’re still fully human. That’s why a patient partner matters more than a fast one.
How to confirm the werewolf transformation worked
Infection and transformation are two separate moments. After the scratch infects you, you stay in human form until the full moon appears. Then the character transforms, and a hunger meter becomes part of your HUD. If you see the hunger meter, the process is complete.

Hunger is the werewolf’s upkeep. You knock enemies down with M1, the basic left-click claw attack. Then you use the Devour action on the body lying on the ground to feed. Repeat that hit-then-Devour loop to keep hunger under control.
The werewolf moveset is still being built out. M1 attacks and Devour are the core tools for now. Showcased moves, such as grabbing an opponent, devouring them, and throwing them, aren’t guaranteed to be in the live game yet. The official Discord and its linked Trello board track what has actually shipped.
Being a werewolf isn’t permanent. If you want out later, a Human Dose from the village merchant resets you to Human, the same way it did at the start. That also lets you go through the scratch process again whenever you want back in.
