Vodyanitsa vs Furina in Genshin Impact: Neuvillette Team Damage Compared

An identical Potapo's Solidarity trial puts both Hydro supports next to Neuvillette, and the gap is smaller than expected.

Vodyanitsa arrived with Version 7.1 as a 5-star Hydro Catalyst support, and the first question most Neuvillette owners asked was whether she pushes Furina out of the team. A controlled trial answers it cleanly, because both supports were swapped into the same party with the same main DPS, the same builds, and the same enemy.

Quick answer: Vodyanitsa’s run finished at 2.1M total damage against Furina’s 2M in the same trial. That is an edge, not a replacement — and the two are frequently run together.

The damage numbers from the Potapo’s Solidarity trial

Both runs used Neuvillette as the on-field carry with Xilonen and Citlali locked into the other two slots, so the only variable was the fourth member. Each rotation followed the same shape — elemental skills and bursts first, then Neuvillette’s charged attacks as the damage window.

The Vodyanitsa run cleared the trial at 2.1M, with Neuvillette doing the heavy lifting through charged attacks while she covered healing and resistance shred from the bench.

Swapping Furina in produced 2M under the same conditions. The gap is roughly 100,000 damage, or about five percent — close enough that artifact rolls, rotation timing, and enemy behavior can move it either way on any given attempt.

A single trial run is a snapshot, not a spreadsheet. Treat the five percent as “roughly equal” rather than a fixed ranking.

Builds used in both runs

Neuvillette’s configuration was verified before and after the swap and did not change between runs — same level 90 signature catalyst, same four-piece set, same constellation, and the same 52.8% CRIT Rate with 330.5% CRIT DMG. That is what makes the two totals comparable at all.

Both supports ran at C0 with level 9 talents and their own signature weapons, so neither side had a constellation or refinement advantage. Vodyanitsa’s 65,594 Max HP sits right on the threshold her kit is designed around, which matters more than it first appears.

What Vodyanitsa contributes to a Hydro team

Rechitativ: Sonorous Dawn activates Water Imp form and leaves behind a lasting support effect that remains active when you switch characters. Her entire kit branches from this single skill.

  • Healing for whoever is on the field while she sings
  • Hydro and Cryo resistance reduction on enemies
  • An ATK boost for the active character
  • Interruption resistance during long attack strings
  • Off-field Hydro application from her skill damage
  • Anemo RES shred and Stellar Swirl damage bonuses through her passive, The Last Djeguako Songstress

Her Elemental Burst, Sink With Thee, is optional. It carries one of the cheapest energy costs in the game, but it is not where her support value lives, so Energy Recharge stays a flexible stat rather than a requirement.

Her personal damage is low by design. Building her as a damage dealer wastes the slot.

When to swap Furina out — and when to keep both

The trial framing invites an either-or answer, but the practical answer is usually neither. Vodyanitsa and Furina appear in the same recommended teams often enough that treating them as rivals costs you damage.

Teams where they stack

Freeze compositions are the clearest case. Skirk paired with Vodyanitsa, Furina, and Escoffier is one of her headline teams, with Vodyanitsa’s Cryo shred and Furina’s buffing both feeding the same carry. Vodyanitsa has also become part of Skirk’s strongest lineups since release, upgrading over older fourth-slot picks like Citlali, Shenhe, or Yelan.

Teams where Vodyanitsa takes the slot

Stellar Swirl teams are her other home. Alongside an Anemo carry such as Vesna or Yumemizuki Mizuki, she supplies Anemo RES shred and Stellar Swirl amplification that Furina does not provide. A common shape is Vodyanitsa with Vesna, Odette, and Faruzan, where three buffers feed one Anemo damage dealer.

Where she is the wrong pick

Vodyanitsa is a poor fit for Vaporize teams. Her extra off-field Hydro application interferes with the aura control those teams depend on.

Hitting the HP number the trial relied on

Vodyanitsa’s buffs scale off Max HP through her A4 passive’s Quills, and the target to aim for is 65,000 HP. Below that, her Hydro and Cryo damage bonuses do not cap out, and the five-percent trial result stops being reproducible.

  • Main stats: HP% sands, HP% goblet, HP% circlet
  • Substat priority: HP% first, then flat HP, then Energy Recharge
  • Best set: Tenacity of the Millelith for the HP bonus plus a 20% teamwide ATK buff
  • Alternative set: Song of Days Past, useful when another character already holds Tenacity
  • Talent priority: Rechitativ: Sonorous Dawn, then Sink With Thee, and leave Normal Attack alone

On weapons, Hymn of the Maelstrom is her best-in-slot and provides 66.2% HP alongside a Max HP and ATK buff that grows by 75% when a party member triggers Frozen or Stellar Swirl. If you did not pull it, Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers is a genuinely strong fallback — a 3-star catalyst with an HP substat and a 48% ATK buff at R5 for the character you swap into. Prototype Amber is the craftable option, and Ash-Graven Drinking Horn works if you want a little personal damage off her HP pool.

A HP/HP/Healing Bonus setup is possible if you want her sustain to carry a team, but it is a niche choice. Full HP is the default.

If you already own and have invested in Furina, the trial result does not justify shelving her — a five-percent swing in one Neuvillette run is not a roster decision. What it does show is that Vodyanitsa matches an established premium Hydro support at C0 on her first patch, while adding Cryo shred, Anemo shred, and Stellar Swirl amplification that Furina was never built to provide. The interesting teams are the ones that find room for both.
