Bosses in VV: ULTIMATUM act as gates between zones and milestones for your race. Some teach combat, some hand out gear, and a few are the only way to unlock the power that defines your build. Where you find them depends heavily on your level and whether you chose Shinigami, Arrancar, or Quincy.
Quick answer: Gelum spawns at the end of the Fort Adams tutorial, area bosses like Giant Dragonfly and The Grey Hunter sit around the Soul Society Outskirts, King Croc waits in the Marsh (Lv25+ and a gas mask), and Securis plus Rogue Commander live in the Arctic Plains (Lv40+). The Masked Warrior is the only boss on a fixed clock, spawning at XX:20 every even hour.
All VV Ultimatum boss locations, drops, and respawn times
The table below covers every confirmed boss, where to find it, and what it gives you. Most bosses respawn on their own once cleared, but only the Masked Warrior runs on a fixed schedule. Race-locked encounters live inside your Inner World and can only be reached by the matching race.

Add to Google Preferences →Gelum: the tutorial boss you should not skip
Gelum is a Dark Souls-style knight at the close of the Fort Adams tutorial, and beating him is optional for progression but worth it for the loot. A win gives a strong shot at a Hogyoku Fragment this early, along with the exclusive Committed Warrior title and a spread of gear from four chests.
The fight is built around reading telegraphs. His heavy sword swings are slow and clearly wound up, which makes them your main parry windows. Red-glowing attacks cannot be parried and must be dodged, a rule that carries through every later boss. Stay close, punish his recovery frames after each combo, and press F to counter his charged heavy attacks.
Note: chest contents vary per player, so the exact items you pull from a Gelum kill will not match someone else’s run.
Soul Society Outskirts bosses
After the tutorial, the Outskirts hold your first open-world targets. The Giant Dragonfly is easy to locate because a trail of red lamp posts runs straight to it from the Soul Society portal. Beating it grants area progression, EXP, and a pool of cosmetic and combat gear. The Grey Hunter sits nearby and drops Razzande Wernarr’s Chests, while Kraus Bach only appears once you accept a Mission from your base.
The Masked Warrior timed spawn
The Masked Warrior is the only boss with a strict schedule. It appears at XX:20 on every even hour, so plan around marks like 6:20pm and 8:20pm. It rotates between three points: the stairs leading to The Precipice, the area near the quest giver at the circular stairs, and the platform across the wooden bridge. Clearing it rewards Courage Extract.
Mid and high-level zone bosses
King Croc guards the Marsh and is your gate into that zone. You need at least level 25 and a gas mask before you can challenge it, and the payoff is EXP plus area progression. Further out, the Arctic Plains is a Lv40+ region with two notable threats. Securis is the milestone fight every Quincy must clear to unlock their Schrift, and the Rogue Commander becomes available at level 40, showing up with a group of Minions.
The Arctic Plains is unforgiving below its recommended level. Entering underleveled or undergeared leads to quick defeats, so build up your stats before farming there.
Inner World bosses tied to your race
Two bosses never appear on the map. The Shikai Spirit and the Resurreccion Spirit live in your Inner World and are reached by meditating at level 25. Shinigami face the Shikai Spirit to claim their Shikai weapon form, while Hollows fight the Resurreccion Spirit to unlock Resurreccion. Because they are race-locked, you only ever meet the one that matches your chosen path.
You will know an unlock landed when the game returns you to the world with the new ability or weapon form added to your kit. Reaching level 25 alone does not hand you Shikai, since you still need to meditate and clear the spirit encounter to finish the chain.
With these spawn points and timing rules in hand, you can plan routes by level and race instead of wandering. Track the Masked Warrior’s clock, gear up before the Arctic Plains, and save the Inner World fights for the moment you hit level 25.
