WARDOGS: How to Get a Helicopter (Prices and Pilot Levels)

Where the Vehicle Vendor sits, what each helicopter costs, and which Pilot levels unlock the armed airframes.

Where the Vehicle Vendor sits, what each helicopter costs, and which Pilot levels unlock the armed airframes.

Helicopters in WARDOGS are not found, looted, or handed out at spawn. They are bought, with cash, from a single vendor at your main base, and the cheapest one costs more than half of the $10,000 every account starts with. Get the purchase right and you are in the air in under a minute. Get it wrong and you have spent most of your bankroll on an airframe you cannot fly.

Quick answer: Open the map at your main base, ping the blue Vehicle Vendor icon, walk to it and press F, switch to the AIR tab, then buy the MH-6 for $6,250. It is the only helicopter with no Pilot level requirement.

What you need before the vendor will sell you a helicopter

Three things decide whether a helicopter tile is a purchase or a wish. The first is cash. Money persists between matches, you receive $10,000 once per account, and anything you lose stays lost. The second is Pilot level, which is its own progression track. Time spent driving trucks earns Driver level and buys you nothing in the air.

The third is a one-off unlock fee on most airframes. That payment is charged on top of the listed price, not instead of it, so a vehicle you have “unlocked” still costs its full price every time you buy it. Only the MH-6 skips both the level gate and the unlock fee.

How to buy a helicopter from the Vehicle Vendor

Open the map while you are inside the main spawn base. Look for the blue Vehicle Vendor icon, which sits separately from the equipment vendor. Ping it so you have a distance marker to walk toward.
Walk to the vendor, which is positioned under a canopy in the safe zone. When the [F] Open Vendor prompt appears on screen, press F to open the menu.
Note the two top-level tabs, LAND and AIR, each with its own filters beneath. Land covers transport, tanks and artillery, and it is where the menu opens by default.

Select the AIR tab at the top of the menu. Every helicopter in the game lives here, split between Transport and Combat.

Highlight a helicopter tile and confirm the purchase. Your cash balance drops by the listed price and the airframe spawns in the vendor’s vehicle area. If several players buy at once, keep clear of the spawn pads, since freshly spawned vehicles can collide and detonate.

WARDOGS helicopter prices and Pilot level gates

Six airframes stock the AIR tab, two of them transports and four of them armed. Prices and gates were recorded from pre-release builds and have already shifted once, so treat the level numbers as the current shape of the ladder rather than fixed values.

HelicopterPricePilot levelOne-off unlock
MH-6$6,250NoneNone
AH-6M [Miniguns]$7,000Lvl 4$25,000
Z20 Lakota$7,400Lvl 10$50,000
Z20 Lakota [Miniguns]$8,000Lvl 25$75,000
AH-6R [Rockets]$12,500Lvl 20$200,000
Havoc$18,000Lvl 35$500,000

The Z20 Lakota took over the transport slot the UH-1Y held in earlier testing, keeping the same Pilot level 10 gate. It carries eleven passengers plus crew and has room for logistics crates, which makes it the only true supply helicopter on the list.

Which helicopter to buy first

Buy the MH-6. It is the cheapest thing that flies, it needs no level, and it carries four passengers with no weapons to think about, which leaves you free to concentrate on the collective and the cyclic. It also earns. Delivering players alive pays, supply drops pay, and passengers can tip you directly, so a transport run is the one purchase that can make its money back.

The armed Little Birds are the natural next step once Pilot level allows them. The AH-6M with miniguns is the cheapest way to test whether you can shoot and fly at the same time, and the AH-6R with rockets has enough firepower to threaten armour. The Havoc is the trap purchase. At $18,000 it is nearly three transports, and the players who buy it first are usually the ones who then cannot afford to fly at all.

Why a helicopter tile will not sell to you

If the purchase does not go through, the tile itself tells you why. There are only a few reasons, and none of them are bugs.

  • A padlock and an amber UNLOCK bar. The airframe needs its one-off cash unlock paid before it can be bought at all.
  • A PILOT LVL requirement printed on the tile. Your Pilot level is too low. Only flying raises it, and supply runs count toward it as well as passenger drops.
  • Not enough cash. Prices are charged in full every purchase, even on a vehicle you have already unlocked.
  • Wrong tab. Helicopters never appear under LAND, no matter which filter is selected.

Note: losing the aircraft costs you the full purchase price out of a balance that carries between matches, and team-kill costs land on the pilot. If a passenger shoots you and the helicopter goes down, you pay for the crash.

Once the MH-6 is on the pad, the sensible first flight is a short one. Lift the collective until the skids leave the ground, hold a hover at head height until it stops wobbling, then set it back down before you go anywhere. That is the whole skill, and it is considerably cheaper to learn on a $6,250 transport than on anything with rockets bolted to it. The full vehicle roster and its pricing are visible any time from the vendor menu, and the game itself is listed on its Steam store page.
