Warframe: How to Start Iceblade of Narin

Iceblade of Narin is the free Update 44 for Warframe, and it arrives September 23 across all platforms. It brings a new story, the ice-themed Warframe Narin, and fresh content built around the summit on Earth where you first learned to use your Void powers. Before you can jump in solo, though, your account has to be past a specific point in the game.

Quick answer: To reach Iceblade of Narin on your own, finish two story quests — Whispers in the Walls and Angels of Zariman (which first requires completing The New War) — then download the latest client so the campaign appears.

Requirements to unlock Iceblade of Narin

This is late-game content. If you are early in your progression, the campaign will stay locked until you clear the story quests that gate it. Two chapters stand between a solo player and the new content.

Whispers in the Walls completed — a solo-only quest that runs about one to two hours.
Angels of Zariman completed — which itself requires finishing The New War first.
The updated Warframe client installed once the update goes live.

Quests you must clear first

Whispers in the Walls

Whispers in the Walls is the shorter of the two prerequisites. It is a solo-only quest and is not especially difficult, so most players finish it in roughly one to two hours. Clear it and one of the two locks on Iceblade of Narin is gone.

Angels of Zariman (and The New War)

Angels of Zariman is the harder block. The quest itself takes about an hour once you know how to deal with the enemies, but you cannot even start it until you have finished the New War saga. The New War is one of the largest story episodes in the game, so budget a lot more time for that portion than for the quest that follows it.

Tackle The New War first, then Angels of Zariman, and slot Whispers in the Walls in whenever it is convenient — it does not depend on the other two.

Update your client and open the campaign

Iceblade of Narin is free, but access still depends on running the current build. Once the update is live, download the latest client version for your platform, whether that is PC, Steam, Epic, Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, or mobile. You can grab or manage the game from the official Warframe page.

Fully close and relaunch Warframe on launch day so the client pulls and installs the Update 44 files.

Open the Update Highlights news console in your Orbiter to confirm the new content is live. It lists Iceblade of Narin and its September 23 arrival.

With both story quests cleared and the client updated, start the Iceblade of Narin campaign from the quest menu. If it is available to launch, your account has met every requirement.

If you are a newer player

Reaching Angels of Zariman by way of The New War is a long climb, and there is no way to skip those quests to unlock the campaign solo. If you would rather not grind through everything yourself right away, other players in the community can help you push through the tougher missions so you can experience the new content sooner. Doing it on your own simply means clearing the two quests above first.
