Halcyon closes out the Skyward City Ruins Campaign in Hidden Mountain, and the first time you fight her the encounter is longer than the version you can replay later. It runs as two ground-combat phases split by a scripted flight sequence against the Sun Crow, and each part asks for something different from you.

Quick answer: Deflect Halcyon’s combos, dodge any attack that flashes Golden Glint, run the moving pillar sequence without fighting back, survive the Sun Crow flight, then counter her Phase 2 low sweep on prompt.

Halcyon location: Heaven’s Threshold, north of Welkin Way

Halcyon waits at the end of the Skyward City Ruins Campaign, inside Heaven’s Threshold in Hidden Mountain. You cannot walk straight into her arena — the Campaign has to be started first.

Teleport to the Welkin Way Boundary Stone, which sits east of Heaven’s Threshold, and take the path heading north.
Speak to the three Qiongqi Artificers standing at the mountain overlook. That conversation starts the Campaign.
Follow the objective markers through the ruins until the arena opens up. Halcyon activates her mechanical arm in a cinematic before the health bar appears, which is your cue that the fight is about to begin.

Halcyon has no elemental or stance weakness to exploit, so nothing in your kit gets a damage bonus against her. She is rated two stars out of five, which makes this a timing fight rather than a stat check.

Phase 1: Deflect her combos and read the Golden Glint

The first health bar is a straight duel on a circular platform. Halcyon leads with fast multi-hit strings, and Deflecting them drains her Qi, so blocking correctly is your main damage lever rather than raw aggression.

Do not counterattack after a single successful Deflect. Her strings often keep going, and swinging early is the most common way players eat the tail end of a combo. Let the whole sequence finish, land one short attack or a Martial Art, then go straight back to guarding.

Halcyon can slip an unparryable Golden Glint attack into an otherwise normal combo. Never Deflect on rhythm alone — watch each attack indicator and switch to a dodge the moment the golden flash shows up.

The moving pillar sequence is a survival window

Partway through the phase, Halcyon marks the floor with green impact zones and the arena’s pillars start moving. Stop attacking entirely here. Pick a direction, sprint along it, and use single, deliberate dodges as pillars cross your path.

Spamming rolls will empty your Endurance and leave you stuck in the open. There is no damage opening during this sequence, so just wait for the arena to settle before you lock on again.

The Sun Crow flight interlude appears only on the first clear

After you empty Halcyon’s first health bar, the Campaign shifts into a playable flashback. Halcyon uses a forbidden technique through her mechanical arm and faces Raven over a floating ruin, where the mechanical Sun Crow appears. Control then passes to you, and you fly using a set of mechanical wings.

The flight section follows on-screen prompts. Steer around the Sun Crow’s projectiles, weave between the floating ruins, and keep firing. Cinematic takedowns trigger automatically when the game wants them.

You do not need to empty the Sun Crow’s health bar. The sequence ends on its own — staying alive is the only real requirement, so prioritise dodging over damage.

This interlude is exclusive to the story run. The repeatable Campaign Challenge version of Skyward City Ruins cuts it entirely, leaving only Halcyon’s two ground phases back to back.

Phase 2: Counter the low sweep and respect the grab

Halcyon returns with her arm reattached and a segmented whip that gives her far more reach. She adds teleportation strikes, green energy waves, and much faster martial strings, and she mixes unblockable hits into attacks that previously looked safe to guard.

The two attacks that decide this phase:

  • Low sweep: comes with a special counter prompt. Press the displayed input immediately. If you miss it, dodge away — guarding will not stop it.
  • Golden Glint grab: an extremely fast weapon grab with a very short warning. Watch the weapon, not her body, and react to the golden flash.

The grab mostly lands on players who are mid-animation in their own combo. Keep your punishes to one or two hits and hold back enough Endurance to dodge the instant that flash appears. Once her health bar empties, her mechanical arm shatters on the floor and the fight ends.

How to confirm the Campaign is finished

Defeating Halcyon does not close the quest by itself. A cutscene plays in which the wounded Halcyon hands you a key and speaks her final words before she dies.

Take the elevator down into the secret chamber that opens after the fight.
Inside the chamber, take the Unsent Gift resting on the table to your left. It is easy to overlook, but skipping it serves no purpose.
Investigate Halcyon’s body. That completes the quest, awards the A Flawed Ascension achievement, and unlocks Skyward City Ruins as a repeatable Campaign Challenge. Seeing Halcyon listed in the Wandering Paths Campaign Challenge menu confirms it worked.

Repeat runs pay out differently. Every clear of the Campaign Challenge drops an Etherwrath Set piece alongside a Changeless Heart Appearance Chest, a Crimson Leaves Chest, Oscillating Jade, Zhou Coin and Character XP, with the gear tier and rarity climbing as your Solo Mode Level rises. There is also a chance at the Face Ornament: Steadfast Veil, which can otherwise be bought from the Season Shop for 80 Appearance Tickets.

Because the reward tier scales with progression, it is worth opening the reward preview in the client before you spend Energy on a repeat run. If you are farming the Etherwrath Set specifically, the difference between a low and high Solo Mode Level is the gap between Uncommon drops and Legendary ones.
