Where Winds Meet: How to Get the Plain Gauze Antique for Seedling Temple

Plain Gauze is the antique tied to the Seedling Temple exploration in Qingzhou. It rests on the lakebed at Stillwater Bay, and fishing it out of the water is only half the job. The Antiques tally in the Seedling Temple menu will keep reading 0/1 until you also close out the matching Encounters in Qingzhou.

Quick answer: Teleport to the Stillwater Bay boundary stone, swim straight into the lake, dive to the glowing item by the rock wall, and press Pick Up to grab Plain Gauze.

Where Plain Gauze is located

In Qingzhou – Eastern Peak, the item is submerged in the lake at Stillwater Bay. For the fastest route, use the boundary stone there; Wellspring Town is east of it, and Seedling Temple is south. Dive to the lakebed and look for the glow beside the rock wall, rather than searching the shore.

The walls around this spot are too smooth to climb, so treat the lake itself as the only route in. Enter the water from the teleport point and go forward.

How to collect Plain Gauze

Bring up the Qingzhou – Eastern Peak world map and locate the boundary stone associated with Stillwater Bay. Wellspring Town is east of it, while Seedling Temple is south; teleport to the stone.

Once you reach the water’s edge, step into the lake just ahead of your arrival point. Swim straight across toward the opposite side, continuing to the distant rock wall.

Dive down and look into the darker water near the wall, where the item gives off a glow. Press the Pick Up prompt to collect Plain Gauze. The screen confirms with an “Item Obtained: Plain Gauze” message.

Why the Antiques counter still shows 0/1

Picking up Plain Gauze does not tick the Antiques line in the Seedling Temple exploration menu. The counter stays at 0/1 because the antique is bound to progress in the region’s Encounters, not to the item alone. You need to finish the related Qingzhou Encounter quests before the collection registers.

You can confirm this in the Encounter Journal, where the Qingzhou Encounters list the quests involved. The set runs across entries such as Storm at the Grave, Buddha and the Cat, Return, O Soul, and Voyage Across the Waves. Until those are completed, the antique holds its stories and the tally does not move.

Antique records also tie into area exploration more broadly. Raising your Exploration in the region earns Karma, which lets you light the Fate Incense Burner to unlock the detailed records for each heirloom.

How to confirm it worked

Two checks tell you where you stand. Right after the dive, the “Item Obtained: Plain Gauze” message means the heirloom is in hand. Then open the Sentient Beings menu and look at the Seedling Temple page: once the matching Qingzhou Encounters are done, the Antiques line flips from 0/1 to 1/1 and that part of the exploration is complete.
