There is no fight and no chain of objectives attached to it — the entire quest comes down to reaching one corpse inside the Ruins of Ban’aethal and clicking a single dialogue option.

Quick answer: Resaan’s Heirloom sits on the corpse of Resaan Nimbuswalker at a stone structure in the northwest end of the Ruins of Ban’aethal. Interact with the body and pick “Retrieve the heirloom.”

Resaan’s Heirloom itself is an item level 1 quest item flagged Unique, added in patch 1.60.1. It only drops from Resaan Nimbuswalker, a level 10 Ban’aethal Citizen, and it has no use outside this quest.

The quest marker covers a wide chunk of the ruins, which is what makes this one confusing. The body you need is not in the middle of the search area — it is tucked into an elevated stone building near the northern edge, on the west side.

Take the quest from Ealaane Nimbuswalker and open your map to confirm the highlighted area inside the Ruins of Ban’aethal. Zephras Isle is the only zone involved, so you can head straight there on foot.

Enter the ruins and follow the paved stone path forward. Visibility is poor here because of the fog, so stick to the paving rather than cutting across open ground.

Keep running north along the pathway through the misty ruins. You are heading for the far northern end of the ruined area, past the broken walls and pillars in the middle.

Climb the stone stairs up into the elevated ruined structure. Wind Hollow enemies patrol this stretch, and you can walk past them without pulling if you keep moving along the steps.

Move toward the entrance of the large stone building on the west side of the northern ruins. This is the one you want — the corpse is right at the doorway area rather than deep inside.

Turn toward the stone entryway and look at the floor just inside. Reopening the map here is worth it if you are unsure, since the quest pin sits almost directly on this doorway.

Interact with the corpse of Resaan Nimbuswalker to open the dialogue box, then select Retrieve the heirloom. That single click finishes the objective.

An Abandoned Belongings chest sits across the ruins from the building, so it is worth a short detour on your way out.

How to confirm the quest is complete

After you choose the dialogue option, the objective tracker updates to Resaan’s Heirloom: 1/1 and the quest shows as ready to hand in on your map and in the quest log. If that counter does not move, you interacted with something other than Resaan Nimbuswalker — the correct target is tagged as a Ban’aethal Citizen.

Return to Ealaane Nimbuswalker to turn the quest in for 880 experience. Once it is finished, you can verify it at any time by pasting this into chat:
