From the back corner of Valanaar, follow the cobblestone path uphill toward the large tree structure, then turn left onto the grassy mountain slope instead of continuing along the path.

Orienting yourself in the back of Valanaar
If you overshoot the river and end up deeper in the city, the rear area near the lake is the landmark to reset from. A large stone building sits back there, close to the blacksmith area, and the paved path plus a stretch of grass leads straight to it.
Its main entryway is the obvious stone arch at the front of the structure. Use it as a fixed point, then head back east and drop down to the river to pick up the fishing trainer.
